I've noticed that some F40's have a body coloured inner door trim with the exposed yellow/black weave of the carbon/kevlar visible inside while I've seen others that have a full black carbon fibre door panel. Any idea why? Im guessing but I think that the models with the plastic windows had the body coloured door trim while the ones with the wind down glass windows had the black door trims.

as i recall the visible weave was from the earlier models, i was also told the full black were ones that were made for us import. since so few ere made, i figure it was based on the year, not so much the destination. our's was an 89 and came track prepared, so the doorpanles were gutted, but the remeaining trim was all black.

your theory of track vs street for the difference is what i'd put my money on, my memory has been a little fuzzy.

    I'll add:

F40's with the door windows made from plastic which included the sliding "tacks" and venting pane were Euro (plus ROW ?) market models; solid "roll down" glass door windows were US destination models.

I thought I read somewhere before that the sliding windows were on earlier production releases and there weren't many of them. Most of the production F40's were fitted with the manual crank windows, regardless of final destinations.

Correct. Early F40´s with the sliding windows had the red inner door panels. I believe those were only fitted untill mid 1988 or so. The F40´s with the wind down windows had the Kevlar inner door trim fitted. This is the general rule, although I have seen some F40´s (1989 or later) that were fitted with the sliding windows. Perhaps they were still available as a special order at that time or cars have been modified afterwards.
