Disneyland Toy Story Zoetrope

    I was in California Adventures with my fam and saw an amazing display. I just wanted to stay all day and watch it "turn on". It's a carousel built with Toy Story figures and around 10ft in diameter. Every few minutes it stops so you can see the models/figures. Each one is in a slightly different pose.

    Then it starts to spin really fast into a blur. After you can no longer see the figures, a strobe light is switched on and the whole displays turns into the most amazing 3-d dancing figures. They also switch on music that is synced perfectly with it. It's hard to explain, but if you go to Disneyland try and find it. I think it's worth the extra 5min.

    In real life it's a lot smoother and the strobe flash is barely noticeable. On film, the cameras have trouble because of the speed of the strobe flash, so everything looks a more delayed and off time.

    The Imagineering Dept occasionally subcontracts me for some work and I have to say those folks are BRILLIANT and love what they do. One of the best jobs in the world.
