Hey everybody, my coffee table is getting kind of full with my 1:18 F-cars so any ideas on display cases that are out there? I found some on e-bay that hold 12 cars that look pretty good. Any diffrent options? I want to put them on the wall, if anybody has any photos i would appreciate it. Thanks

There are many choices. Look at some of the audio/video media cases, too. I have a few smaller diecasts on a DVD shelf that works great, since the shelves are not too far apart.

Most people like glass-enclosed, and Ikea seems to be a good choice, some are even lit inside. Not much dust in Alaska, so I don't mind them being open.

Here is one of my shelves (with airplanes). Notice lots of small spaced shelves, not too deep. And some WalMart shelves for the cars. I do not like a lot of wasted space between shelves, since the cars are only a few inches tall. Some smaller cars are stackable, and wider shelves will work (3rd picture).

Make sure they are sturdy. Mine are bolted to the walls, and most of the models are taped down, since we get a lot of earthquakes up here.

Nice, how do the doors open? Do they swing up or open like doors?

They swing up. There is a little pin that holds and locks the door. Pull the pin and swing the door straight up.

You are welcome. Try a few diecast car, train and plane websites for more ideas. You will find pictures of people who have all of thier walls lined with hundreds of diecasts.

The plane guys seem to have the most elaborate set ups with scenary and landscapes, and most use enclosed glass shelves, lots of Ikea. I go for volume, less cost shelves. The black plane one was $99, the 1:18 ones were $30 and the 1:43 one was $50.

IKEA..is the best place to go for anything like a display case. All kinds of them any size you need. From all glass to wood with glass doors, classy or store type stuff. I have 2 of them..and I need another.

    Roger,

That setup is amazing. I give you lots of good words in your choice. Im on a similar path yet splurging on what appears to be the same case sold at Exoticar. Despite the bad rep it gets here, I never had a single problem with them. Though I bet you paid a great price for them, I only buy on impulse and when the case will justify an increase in my collection by bulk standards. Regardless, that is one of the best setups I have seen, great, great job...

However, one concern I have is how much weight is in those cases. Currently I am looking for the best wall anchor to place those puppies in the office, ( I have three. ) Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    RocketBoy
