I have been asked to replace the defunct AEC 104A on a 400i build around '82 to '83 with a new electronic ignition. Based on the wiring diagram the Marelli S 158C distributor might have a magnetic pickup, as the trigger lead to the Dinoplex AEC 104 pin #1 is shielded via ground to pin #2.
i'm not sure about the trigger type, having no data about the S 158C and plan to install a MSD 6AL-2, so i need to know the trigger type for the wiring of the connector.
Thanks and looking forward to your input.

I was wondering the same thing! When did Ferrari switch from points to magnetic? Has anyone retrofitted or gone with aftermarket replacement pickup to elimenate the points and what did you use?
