If the fuel system is holding pressure and if the engine has been shut-off for only a few minutes, the engine should restart almost on the first revolution.
The small momentary switch may be a hidden cut-out switch going to the alarm system. Try pushing it when the non-start happens again.
This was my thought also, what else would be non-standard, except the alarm system? I emailed the previous owner for clarity, but he only owned the car 4 years so may not know either.

You would think that but I can tell you based on 35 years experience with my 308, that isn't always the case.
