The first pic is a F4U-5NL (you can see the de-icer boots on the wing...), my favorite plane since I was about 5 years old!

    Reserve units

151st Fighter Interceptor Squadron F-104A. The unit briefly flew the Zipper for a few years. The jets were received in late 1960 from the deactivated 337th FIS (Westover AFB) - James Jabara was the C.O. at the time. The 151st was called up for the Berlin Crisis. After flying out of Ramstein the unit was returned to CONUS and converted to the Deuce for about one year and moved on to heavies. USAF took back all of the F-104A's it had provided to the ANG. Some of the Guard pilots decided to stay in the USAF and fly the Zipper after the units were returned to CONUS. Note the stars in the field of the patch. The previous version of the 151st patch has a top of view of two Dog Sabre's where the stars are located. No Deuce patch was produced.

VF-791. Called up for the K.W. and flew the F4U off of the USS Boxer. VMF-124 is a famous USMC unit from WW II that was transferred to the USMCR. Before 1970 the aircraft in the Navy reserves were on the books at the NARTU - not squadron level. USNR and USMCR shared the same aircraft at the NARTU. The patches are from the 1950's - post K.W.
