I would agree, but while the dealers rarely do it, it is possible to have it properly resurfaced. You must maintain that slight dish to the surface. Specs have been posted in another clutch thread here. If you have trouble finding a shop, contact Rifledriver, he had a shop near him that was capable.

I managed to get most of the bits a pieces off that i wanted to , Surprisingly this car comes apart pretty easy .
I removed the oil cooler so I can weld on a new fitting that will fit the new oil line , Iam using -12 an line for this .
I cut of the fitting on the old oil line and was surprised to see the inside was a thin Teflon tube . Iam going to start cleaning the engine later tonight , i have the first round of cleaning done on the gear box and have the T.O. bearing removed , It was a pain the a## to get off , the crows foot didn't work so i cut the studs off with a dremel and too the bolts out with a 13mm socket .

Im happy to look at this thread, I was afraid it could not be possible to do it yourself..It is harder than on 348/355 but looks like on most of cars that need to remove gearbox to make clutch service.
    Thank you for this subject.
Will you need to make a SD2 or using a computer before to restart ?
    This 360 have a manual gearbox yes ? I should not be possible with a F1 ?
Many questions because Im thinking of buying a 360 ! so nice car !

Great DIY work! Seeing this I'm glad I have a 355 (not talking about timing belts of course) :D

Ive done my 355 and it was a piece of cake , but this isnt much harder ,just more stuff to remove . I found it was easier to take the trans right out the back then to lift it out of the care , but I took the grill og teh back and a buch of other stuff to make it alot eaiser
. There is plenty of room for two people to stand in the engine bay to slide out the gear box . This by no means a job that anyone could do in there garage . Ive never really worked on cars until i got my 355 . Ive never changed a clutch before my 355 either .

Absolutely, I was speaking from experience - had my 355 clutch out twice. It was a piece of cake so first time just replaced the triple seals hoping that would solve the slipping (oil leaked onto disc). But no deal on the cheap fix, had to take her apart again and replace the clutch disc and pressure plate. Good job -

I love these threads where guys de-mystify these cars and do their own work. Makes great research for personal future projects. Thanks for taking the time to make this thread!

Good post!! Do you have the clutch alignment tool or you don't need it to put the new clutch on? If so, where will you get one?

This is an AWESOME thread! I never got the chance to change the clutch in my 355. I took it to the dealer for something else and he said the clutch was in need of replacement (and showed me how to tell). It was a 2 hour drive, so I ended up having him do it. I was pissed at the missed opportunity. I did get to do a CV boot, and the 355 was my first (easy job). It's all just nuts and bolts, you just have to be patient...

    Bravo !

The quick fix would appear to be to have the original disc relined with Kevlar material. A friend did his 355 (all other parts were OEM, except for the Hill Engineering throw out bearing) and he inspected it recently, after 7k miles of "spirited" driving and said it showed almost no wear at all. That is pretty amazing.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to post for awhile , Ive been finishing the house ive been building for two years now . I just got my parts all back form teh powder coater and the look great . Ive decided that iam going to give the carbon Kevlar clutch a try .
I sent my disk out to a shop who's done them for my porsches and should have it back soon . Iam pretty unimpressed how long the stock disks last . I will put a hill throw out bearing in . Ill post some more pics soon .

Got the clutch back and i must say it looks like a piece of 2cent cardboard riveted to the disk , hope it works better than it looks , They did a wonderful job rebuilding the pressure plate and the flywheel . I would post pictures but i left it at work and there 12 inches of snow outside , so ill post some tomarow .
