    Hello everyone,

    I didn't find a lot of information on how to install the capristo remote kit on the 458.

    I tooked some pictures yesterday when I installed it (about 1 hour and 30 minutes). Please look at the pdf file.

    Of course I was able to let my dealer do it, but it was 40 minutes drive and half a day without the 458.

    Hope it can help someone else. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

    I will post videos today. Result is incredible.

    thanks for the great info and glad you like the capristo unit :)

    ps now get a bmc racing air filter in there and let's take our beasts out for a drive
    in LA :) :)

    I have seen Capristo installation manual .Quite complicated it seems . If it were Apple product , I am sure it would be 2 sentences long at most !!!

    Nice :)

    I fit it like this:

    The key is to remove / loosen the airfilter box as the solenoids you need to access are bolted in the back of it.
    If you want to take out the complete airfilter box you need to remove the rear bumper. This is because of the hose from the soleniods to the valves below is connected and do not allow to move the box much.
    I did not remove the bumper. I just loosen the airfilter box enough to be able to reach the connectors plugs going into the solenoids. Please note that the connectors / plugs are secures into the solenoids with a metal clip. This clip has to be removed or you will not be able to free the connectors.

    After this is only plug and play. I mounted the control unit and cables hidden under the bumper just in front of the third brake light with double sided mounting tape and plastic strips.

    The trick is also not to lose something into the engine compartment.

    The result was AMAZING !

    Another 458 owner told me his experience was less complex. As I understood, one removes the top of the air cleaner you reach in below and to the rear of the air cleaner to reach the solenoids. A tight fit , I believe, but saves a lot of time. Then secure the controller to the top of a cross brace.

    Quick question ...

    I know there are two exhaust bypass valves ... but is there one or two solenoid valves. I thought there was only one.

    I am curious as I want to update my database for the bypass valve controller kit that I am marketing.

    Anyone know how many screws actually attach and hold bumper to the rear of the car? This D.I.Y. isn't exactly revealing of that. It only mentions "the last two screws" to be removed. Wondering if the air box needs removing to get to the rest of them?

    I did this tonight before I found this guide on a Spider, I think the configuration is a bit different as they seem to have moved a few bits around compared to how I remember my coupe.

    I had no idea on how to get the bumper off until I had fitted it after I had read this thread. I would probably say the bumper off is probably a better option by the looks of it. I spent around 3 hours going through the Airbox. Like I say I think the spider has even less access than the coupe and getting the Jubilee clips back on the airbox rubbers for the Spider was a right pig. You also need a trained monkey to get to those solenoids. Even with everything loose there is just n room from the top.

    Put it all together then it failed to work, but it turned out that I needed to earth in another place.
