Hello, I'm new to the chat group and have a question regarding a pre-purchase inspection on a 308QV.

Several years ago I owned a 308QV, then sold it for a faster 911 turbo. At the time this seemed important to me, but ever since I have been regretting my decision.

I have located an 85' 308 QV in the mid-west that is some distance away from the nearest dealership or exotic shop which is making it difficult to get a pre-inspection done. I'm pretty mechanically inclined, doing most maintenance on the vehicles (include a few motor rebuilds) over the years and might end up doing a the inspection myself. I do know the QV pretty good from my last experience, but would like to know exactly what should be looked at during the inspection.

    Questions:
Is there a standard list for the pre-purchase inspection?
What tools will be required to do the inspection?
    How long should it take?

    Thanks for your input.

After you have looked in every crevice, nook and cranny, and if after all of that you still like the car, if it drives fine and meets your standards, the car needs to have a leak down test performed to make absolutely sure the engine has no ills. I would ask the owner if he had a problem with that test before even looking the car over. I personally had an owner refuse to allow any further discussion when I asked for a test, and I know the gentleman who bought the car without the test. The car had a bad cylinder that required a rebuild. Dont forget to pull the wheel well liners and look at the frame members for previous damage, or neglect. All the records in the world wont matter if the car cant pass your standards. Then come back here and let us know what you see so we can talk you out of buying it, lol.

Is the owner really going to let you tear into his Ferrari to do a PPI?
