Made a diy video on header install.
    Took about 3 hours.
Talk about timing though, for the last four or so years, the challenge headers have been about $650 each.... Until the week I finally edited this video they jump in price lol
Whatever, still shows how to install them.

One of the best updates to my 430 was the challenge headers. The engine compartment is so much cooler without the precats. I wouldn’t say it’s much louder, but has a deeper sound at lower rpm’s but keeps the high pitch sound at high rpm’s. Combined with my Kline, makes the car sound perfect to me. I do have stock cats.

Same here best and most important upgrade. I replaced with Challange headers and complimented with 360Trev ECU flash. Amazing and significant difference.

Has anybody measured the temp difference by chance?

So I took my car for about a 45 minute enthusiastic drive yesterday, after pulling it into the shop I use my little laser thermometer thing and this was my findings

    Top of Kline 140
    Klein x-pipe, 420
    Bare part of cats, 480
    Shielded part of cats 340
    Manifold shields 375 to 400
    Intake manifold 130
    Valve covers 210
    Oil filler cap 190 (ouch)

I mean cats get pretty hot, right? Like glowing ceramic 800 -1200?
It has to make a difference, especially because that catalytic material is meant to retain heat for a while too

I took some measurements as well.

Stock header temps made me think I was having a problem on my drivers side. It was reading 600 degrees while the passenger was 350-400 degrees.

I don’t have the challenge headers, I have the Kline headers. They sit about 275-300 degrees.

I have similar temps to Kenny for all other components including my Kline exhaust. The only difference is when I measure at the stock cat exit (slip fitting) I’m reading closer to 600+ degrees.

I think that's one of the best things about having the valve controller, if you leave the valves open most of the time, the top of the muffler never really gets hot, you can touch it right after a drive
But even so, the air box was like 210° on the bottom, so I'd like to make some kind of shielding similar to the s line to protect the intake box from all that radiant heat.
I do have like a quarter mile long driveway that I basically idle down, which explains my mind might be a little cooler readings

What are you using for heat management on the Kline headers? Ceramic? Blankets, Wrap?

Anyone know the PN for the heat shielding to the left there above the oil filter?

EDIT: Ah found PN 241691 (not on my 2005)

Correction on the shielding - it’s high grade 316 stainless, not inconel. Apologies.
