    1) Knowing how to lift your car is useful and sometimes necessary. Just for laughs, look at page 169 in your Owner's Manual to see how unhelpful the factory can be. The information in this thread is from techs at my local dealership.

    2) Lifting the car triggers the alarm. Unlock it. Once the car is on jack stands, even if tilted.you can relock it.

    3) The Portofino is both stiffer and considerably lighter than the Californias. Lift points that are ok for a California may not be strong enough for a Portofino. [ C/D weighed a California T at 4064 lbs; my Portofino weighs only 3740 lbs.]

    4) Look underneath a rocker panel. Notice two neoprene plugs 2 1/2" long. The front one runs F-R,the rear one runs crosswise. Pull them out and see how thick the metal is. You can jack here using a puck. I use #3107838 from ecstuning.com.

    5) Jack stands can go under the lower a-arms. To avoid scraping and gouging,I use jack stand protective pads from California Car Cover Company.

    6) The finish on my parking brake calipers didn't age well. Rear-wheels-off is a good time to paint them. I used Rust-Oleum gloss black.
