Nice car and write up.:)
Love this thread. Not related but sorta is....the show Wheeler Dealers did a conversion of a BMW M3 from auto to maual. It was outstanding.
Do you know of a capable shop in LA that can source the parts and complete the swap for me? How did you source your parts? Thanks for the thread!
I have not. Right now, I'm just deleting the CEL with a simple OBD2 reader when it pops up. ECU Doctors in FL can make a permanent fix, as well as Todd at Protomotive. I just don't drive the car enough to really want to spend the money. I'll get to it as some point (and will wrap up this thread too)
Awesome and well Done! Sorry I missed following this earlier, but enjoyed it. Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just saw that my galletto 1260 (clone) says it can flash me5.2 ecu’s from 355’s. Fancy giving that a go? The tool is like $15 on eBay. I’d try myself if I had a 355 lying about. [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Ooooh neat! I just ordered one! Robin, how did you learn to use the Galleto 1260? What would be your expected results on the 355? Can this also read the 355 F1 codes from the F1 ECU?
Galetto 1260 is just a flashing tool - it's purpose isn't for maintenance, so it wont help you with any codes. In theory though, it could be used to re-write a 355 ecu from F1 to manual firmware. This is all in theory of course! Be great if you can see if it works when you get it.
That sounds like a very risky experiment. If it doesn’t work I’m guessing my ECU doesn’t work and my 355 is bricked until someone that knows what they are doing fixes it.
Having flashed ecu’s literally hundreds of times, I can’t see how that would happen. Would only be if you tried writing a new file that you can change anything. Just reading the file doesn’t change anything . Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
@Targatime How much do you have left to write? I feel like this write up is a gooooooood project for a winter Sunday? Like.. oh! Tomorrow!? What a coincidence! Hint hint.
