I did this to my F430 already months ago and didnt realize I havent posted this info yet here for sharing.

I did a search and came up with nothing for the F430. Only for model 360 and I was the one that posted that info too. Nothing for the F430......(well there is but its the longer wire / fuse tap method) so here you go.

My friend Seung asked me for help today on how to hardwire his V1 so I created this DIY to help him and others here too so here you go.

You can buy the V1 hardwire cable from Amazon or some online sellers.

The complete info is on the attached pdf file so you can just print it and take with you to your car when you're ready.

    Photo below is completed project.

Hope this helps some of you.

I ran my wiring from the counter of the dash and it sits flush almost above the dash - that way you can't see any of the cord.
    Love my V1.

How old is your V1 and does it work well for you? My friends all pooled together and bought me a V1 one about 10 years ago for my birthday. I had promised my wife years before that I wouldn't purchase a radar detector because it would allow me to I'd speed more (I plead the 5th on that part), so my friends thought it would be not only funny but a loophole in my promise.

What I have found is that it's so annoying with the beeps driving around town or even on the regular highway going off from every little thing that I ignore it, so now the V1 sits in the case instead of the car.

lots of threads discussing that here, try the search function.

Also, you have to program your V1 to get it to quiet down a bit and/or send it in for updates.

And run a phone app to add GPS and then you will have lock-outs for false alarms.

Check out this guy, I'm sure he's covered it many times:

I've had V1's for longer than I can recall, and some passport/escorts and K40 too. I love the V1 when I'm out on the highway. Using it around town its too noisy/fasly, so I use something else.

A new Valentine V1 gen 2 was released last month with blind spot monitoring filtering, much much quieter than my other V1’s. It has bluetooth so as above, you can run an app (V1Driver) to add gps lockouts that silence those annoying false alerts.

You can also look at the newest Uniden R7, escort 360 max or the Redenso Pro M. All are latest generation top of the line detectors with filtering, etc.

Well I put my serial number into their website and to upgrade is essentially a new unit (almost $400) with a slight trade in discount. Not sure I want to do that yet.

10 years old, most of the apps probably won't work. The easiest way to make an older V1 useful again (and what I did for the past several years) is reprogram it as suggested. I downloaded the instructions from Valentine and simply turned off X band, and K band. Both are notoriously used for automatic doors at stores, and K is also used for collision warning on newer cars. Neither are used by law enforcement in WA and OR where I travel. I would still get an occasional false from the laser from a few newer cars that use it for collision warning, but only once or twice a day...which was acceptable.
I recently sold by V1 on Ebay and made about $200 after expenses (I had the original box, instructions and all accessories) and will purchase the new V1 Gen2 later this year (once whatever inevitable bugs are worked out). Valentine only gives you $100 credit for a "trade in".

I haven’t done that tap personally but many have on the radar detector forum.

Sorry just now catching up on posts.

My car is an F430 Spider so yes, my DIY will work on spider.
Its been a while and my F430 is sold so I will check the write up again soon and see if its still accurate.

As far as those push pins and tap splice connection - I hate them with a passion.
Any friction held electrical connection you are asking for trouble as they are usually the root cause of electrical gremlins due to intermittent connection.

Those tap splice I used before and I opened up a couple after pushing the tap splice and it severed the wires instead of pushing the wires to the middle of the metal slot. Even if pushed properly, it's still friction held so with vibration of the car we can not be assured of solid connection.

Soldering and butt splice is the best way to go.

I am a retired electrical engineer.

I wish you live closer, I will try and help you.

then try V1 Driver (check to see that it works with your V1 and that it will give you GPS lockouts, etc. You might need to buy some sort of V1 "dongle" to make it connect iirc). Or go to the V1 Gen 2 when ready. The passport max 360c is much quieter, but doesn't have the range. The Uniden R7 is somewhat quieter (not really tho) and has great range. Radenso is coming out someday with "Theia" that will solve world hunger, whilst also being quiet and having long range.

I'm running V1 Gen 1 . I upgraded and programed it and it's not too bad and does a good job of canceling other cars on the road. I also have a dongle for bluetooth and run JBV1 on the phone along with Waze. This set up give me plenty of protection and I don't feel the need to upgrade to Gen 2.

With all radar, you have to be familiar and know how to use it. To be honest, Waze has saved me more than my V1.

Dan-Thanks for having taken the time to provide the instructions. Took me only five minutes to set up my R7 once I figured out that the dome came off with two screws behind the lightbulb. Image Unavailable, Please Login
