Hello people... I can get hold of a set of rotors from a 355 with 700 miles worn. My front rotors aren't the best anymore... Could I fit these on my late 1993 348 without problems ? Would the calipers etc fit ? Thanks for the input...
You have to have 18 inch rims, the 348 rims are only 17 inches. So if you have bigger rims yes, if not no.
Hmmm... I have to disagree. I thought that the 355 brakes were the same as the 348 brakes. Call a F-car dealer parts department; see if the rotors are the same size. vty, --Dennis
Maranello pars lists show both the 348 and 355 to use part no. 160051 for the front brake disk. £119.20GB each. http://parts.ferrariforum.com/
For F355 2.7 cars, yes. On all others, I disagree -- at least from the perspective of parts numbering and Ferrari supersession of the numbers. 348 uses: 131750 (F) 131868 (R) 355 uses: 160051 (F) 160052 (R) -Daniel
Thanks for your input guys. After ChrisXXX's input I thought it was clear.... But now Mr. Daniel brings up another issue.. I will ask first now if they came from a 2.7 or 5.2.
Hey Guys, Just a little info on the brake retro fit question. The discs on the 348 and early 355s are the same. The later 355s have a different part no. but the size, if it is different, is minor. Same with the calipers if they are different it is minor. I don't recall that the change of the 2.7('95) to 5.2(96-'99) cars corresponed with brake changes. If you physically look at 348 and 355 brakes you are not going to see any significant differences as you would if you compared them to the 355 challenge brakes. The ABS on the late 348s and the 355s up to mid '97 is the same ECU, pump etc. Teves system. After mid '97 they changed to the vacuum assit pwr brake Bosch ABS system. The 355 challenge cars had large Brembo race brakes which can be fitted to the road 355s but there is no provision for a park brake and they have quick release pad clamps which allows the pads to rattle in the calipers. The compounds used for the pads are race compounds which make for some fairly noisey street driving. My point is I guess is there would be no benefit to change a 348 brake system to a 355 system. Brembo makes a street upgrade brake package for the 355 if I remember correctly, it is pricey though. If you want more aggresive brakes maybe a more agressive pad would be the answer and cheaper also. Regards Vern
