Do Dino (246, etc) owners view 308 GT4's the same way that Ferrari owners used to view Dino's?

I mention this because at the cars and coffee event yesterday, there didn't seem to be all that much respect from the Dino guys. Seems like they all kept to themselves. Look at the photos- lots of pics of the 246's , but no one really posted any of the 2 GT4's that were there, except for me.

Also, the lovely Dino shirts that were made up (I did buy one though)- No GT4 on that shirt, even though it is a Dino.

It seems to me that the GT4's are still being left out. Will they ever become respected as either Dino's or Ferrari's? Will it be a case of what goes around comes around? Who will GT4 owners look down on?

    Dom,

I think you might be overly sensitive with this issue. I don't think the majority of Dino guys dislike or look down on the GT4's, they are what they are. Cool cars with cool history of what became the transition of Ferrari's to being mainly V8's vs. V12's.

308GT4's are actually one of my favorite Dinos! I set up the parking so the Dinos were in order from 2 liter Fiat Dinos to 308GT4's. The empty spaces were for more cars such as the 308GT4's and Fiat Dinos. Very few Dino owners outside the ones I knew introduced themselves to me(I was the one in the orange "Shell" jacket). We need to get the word out so we can have more of these gatherings. Next time introduce yourself and take some pictures! The pictures so far that I can see were by the owners of the other cars sharing and comparing.

    Best,
    Freeman

Love the GT4. This nonsense about what is and what isn't a Ferrari keeps cropping up. Sure an owner of an Enzo might look down on other Ferraris and the owner of a 250Trs or 250GTO etc. might look down on everybody, but that's an indication of the kind of people they are. I do not believe that a true enthusiast will feel that way. So hoist your GT4 flag and be happy you own a beautiful Ferrari. my2cents.

The Dino 308 GT4 is a great car for which I have the highest respect. Is it a Ferrari? Of course not, and neither is my Dino 246 GT. Enzo said so, until the Fiat marketers and the US dealers started raising a stink, which should have been ignored.

I would love to see or have a Dino 308 GT4 next to my Dino 246 GT. Dino handling, 2 cylinders more, a great dashboard and interior, and room for the kids or luggage... A great combination!

And of course, Dinos have no reasons to envy Ferraris. On the contrary. Congratulations for your Dino.

As for the "looking down" aspect, it all depends on who you are dealing with of course.
There were 2 GTO's at the 2010 TdF, and it was amusing to see one of the owners "look down" on the other one, because his own GTO had a more extensive racing record than the other GTO! As others have said, pay no attention.

The 308/208 GT4s, both Dinos and Ferraris, are truly distinctive cars and a great Bertone 1970s design. Pininfarina Ferraris are of course usually good looking, but it's really refreshing to see Maranello products designed by others. Wish there were more non-PF Ferraris...

As I've said many times, history will be kind to the GT4, looks better with every passing year.

Much as how I feel about the 206/246 Dinos, the 208/308 GT4 models have a dual pedigree---Dino and Ferrari. Later-model Ferraris also have a dual pedigree--Ferrari and FIAT! Fred
