What do you think goes through the minds of people that buys these cars when they are signing the delivery paperwork? Is the price 'Chump Change' for the super wealthy to drop between $1.0M - $2.0M on these cars? You know that most will be garage queens and end up with 2600 miles on them by the year 2010!

Are they buying the car or are they buying the 'Ultimate statement' of wealth when they sign on the dotted line?

I don't think an Enzo is the ultimate sign of wealth. A second or third home can be way more expensive. A plane or a yacht is more as well. The operating costs on some planes is very very high. A short flight could be the price of a nice 308.
I think many people do get cold feet when it comes to buying an expensive car. If you don't go first class your children will.

doubt it. to them buying a million dollar car is like me buying a 25k car. if you bring home 10 million a year then a million bucks on a car is not much to worry about.

I don't think so. These people get invited to purchase the car when new so they get it at MSRP. They keep it for a couple of months, drive it for a bit, then sell it for 1.2 million just before the warrantee expires. On to the next toy or investment. Let the second or third owner worry about any issues their car might have.

Some of them even keep their car for many years, driving & maintaining properly as they should. If money no issue to them let them have their fun & enjoy it.

reminds me of a gentleman my car group met at the Ferrari of San Antonio dealership. Came to the shop to check on his Enzo which had some work being done to it....Pulled up in his McClaren F1....Both cars with some mileage on them, not just investments. I believe he was the same guy who painted his F1 to match the Enzo.

As with everything it depends on the owner. I think it's safe to say while the few FChatters who own Enzos bought them because they have the passion, others buy them as a status symbol. Certainly I don't believe anyone involved with the FXX program views it as a status symbol, especially those who are competing.

i think if you're even considering paying that much for a car...generally...you aren't worried too much about money :p

I like to see owners of cars like these spending the miles taking kids for rides.

well i'm attempting to convince my dad to get an Enzo, although he hates the fact that it costs so much,i'm telling him that it's more of an investment than other cars, for reasons you guys know already

and before someone says how does a newbie attempt to get an Enzo, parents are property developers

I'd guess that most Enzo owners don't mind that it costs so much and have their investments elsewhere.

Those of us who agonize over the sticker price are the ones who see Enzos at car shows and Ferrari gatherings, although I did see a black Enzo at a mall here in San Diego. I assume the owner was returning some defective socks or something... ;)

yeah i understand what you mean, guess it'll just take time like it did with him buying the Skylines, which was only 2 years!!!

i think he's got the view that once you get a Ferrari, the price of the car falls quickly, which obviously doesn't with an Enzo, and i'm trying to show him that

+1. The first name that came to mind is my friend Stanley Cohen with the yellow Enzo. Every opportunity he has he is thinking about doing something or charity. It is not only for one charity though, it is for many charities. Every year there is an event which has 40 Ferraris go to the hospital and pickup sick kids and give them a ride back to the show. Every single year he is the first one in line with at least one of his cars.

i saw mine negotated a price called my bank they contacted the dealer set up the wire. the bank called me back to verify and the deal was funded, simple as that. I wasnt nervious at all i was happy i found the car i had been looking for, the car was delivered to my Vegas house I had it one day and went to Africa/Europe for 3 months.

I do deals much bigger than the Enzo on a regular basis. I love the car and have no intentions of ever selling it, but doing the deal was just another deal after a while the are all the same weather its a property, car, land, establishing a budget for remodle of a property, or payroll at anyone of my business, i'm in the process of buying a jet now(something old and cheap 1.5M).

I'm a businessman not an employee, people who work for other people usually trade their time for $$ and buy a house once or twice and a car now and then so doing deals isnt part of their normal lives, and they have alot less experience and get worked up when they do deals, i help all my friends buy cars, i have bought more cars for friends than i can remember and they are awalys nervious i wonder whats going through their minds.

i also like to share it and give rides, if you cant share it you shouldnt own it, i didnt buy it for a status symbol at all, i have other things for that and use them on as needed basis,
