I'm looking at a eurospec 360 but noticed it had the speedo in MPH (kph in smaller numbers underneath). Does this make sense? Are most eurospec cars that come over here cracked open and converted to us measurements? Is that why they have a lower value?

Sounds like someone changed out the instrument cluster. Not difficult to do, but means the odometer reading should be checked closely. It is possible to reset the odometer, but only FAI are able to do it in the US as far as I know.

This is a metric instrument panel.

Mine is a Euro spec. The instrument cluster and ODO must have been changed out on import (perhaps), as they are in Mile units.

The climate controls are in Celsius which is kind of neat.

I think a Euro spec car has different cats but still pass emmissions testing (in PA at least) -- these cats being higher flow, so that's a plus.

Also, the Euro spec car has a button to turn off all traction control which for me is just a novelty.

Mine had already been registered in PA since being imported and all import documentation had been with the car.

For some reason, the euro specs seem to command a lower price but as long as all the paperwork and conversions were done properly, they IMO should be at a very slight premium if anything.

If you have any other questions about your Euro spec potential car, I'll be happy to reference my car (though it won't be back until late next week).

My guages are in MPG as well. Technically, they were supose to be changed at import but I don't know if all cars were.

The cats will pass CA emissions but getting to be a 50 state car is a bit of hassle and money (testing no changes). I wrote a thread on it so do a quick search and you can find it.

Prior to purchasing my euro 360, I verified the DOT / EPA paperwork and stated odometer reading. The US spec speedometer was re-programed to reflect the actual converted kilometers to miles as evidenced by the extensive paperwork provided to me by Dick Fritz ( Amerispec ), including the original bill of sale / title from Germany. The odometer readings matched closely throughout the history of the car, nevertheless be aware that in europe specifically england, there are numerous outfits that offer such service all over the web.My 360's speedometer is of a different hue / color the the rest of the gauge cluster.

By the way ..... for those living in California and considering a Euro Spec car ..... Follow the advise given by SKIDKID on his thread, it is a " must " prior to making a decision. I followed his advise ( Thank you agin Skidkid ) and now enjoy a well priced 360 Euro Spider !

I have a 2000 360 Euro Spec that was imported to the US in 2001. It was federalized when it came over. My Speedo is in MPH and KM in smaller Numbers underneath, however above the Mileage counter it has a KM in small letters. I am unsure as well if this was supposed to have been changed out or if it is not supposed to be touched at all.

thanks guys very helpful information. I just wasn't sure if this was a red flag or not. The car looks pretty clean, but as well all know looks can be deceiving.

I am going to try and see the car next week and have a PPI done if the seller and I can come to an agreement on price.

When Euro Spec cars are federalized they don't add weight or anything to the car do they to make them meet safety requirements? Also did you guys run into any problems registering the car?
