Well,do I? Then why is everybody trying to F**k me? F**K me Part 1: I'm in Charleston painting the house and I go to Sherwin Williams (prev owner used this paint) to get a gallon of flat white wall paint for the bathrooms. I has been there last month to get a gallon of flat and a gallon of semi-gloss trim for the laundry room and they charged me ~$60 for those 2 gallons, about $25 for the flat and $30 for the semi-gloss trim paint, plus tax. That hurt. Paying 30 bucks for a gallon of paint was outrageous, but I did it as I was short of time. So I go in there today, they mix the gallon of flat paint and the guy says $42. WHAT??? $42 for a gallon of regular flat paint? "Oh, It was on sale last time you were here". $42....Hmmm... 42 f**king dollars for a gallon of paint? I told him I wasn't going to pay $42 for a gallon of paint and walked out. I'm getting it mixed at Lowe's at 7 AM tomorrow for $19 per gallon, and they did better in the Consumer Reports tests anyway. F**k me, part 2; I'm driving back to the house, and because I had a little "wood damaging insect" problem down here I decided to get the regular house in the mountains looked at. The guy does the inspection, finds no termites, although there were some in a stump near the garage. He said he could treat the house and garage for $3295. Then $700 per year starting in 2 years. 33 hundred smackers and there were no termites. Do I look like a B**ch? Addendum: It was Terminex BTW. Also, happily, Sherwin Williams stock cratered today 9.1%. I hope the $42 paint mixer has his life savings in it.
Well, I have seen your real photo so...... Seriously I actually order my painters NOT to bring their own paint. Some of them will not even bid because of this. I go to the local Lowes and get it my self and save a fortune. As for the bugs, did you call a national company? I use Orkin and they dont cost that much for FIVE YEARS!!!!
For $347 a gallon, we can supply you with genuine "termite grade" stump paint that will kill termites AND protect your stump from years of rot. But you must send a sample of the stump bark so that we can custom match the color. Or you could just go with our standard "Ferrari red" stump paint at only $346 a gallon. Did I mention that the paint is guaranteed 100% impervious to Ivory Billed woodpeckers? (we've never had one complaint about IBWPs yet.)
I'm leaving the stump as a show of support for our local (non-Ivory Billed BTW) woodpeckers. Good idea though.
How about painting the words Sherwin Williams on the stump and then dynamiting it into oblivion? You know, as stress relief.
I know the feeling, a couple weeks ago I got a nail in the tire of the Vette and took it to the local Firestone place. $29 freakin bucks to get a simple patch job and had to wait an hour...... got screw in the tire today and took it to the auto shop on base and did it myself in under 15 minutes and it only cost $3 for a patch. On a side note... I have never seen so much sh|t on the roads as here in Little Rock. Just random crap, pieces of metal, boards.......
Driving from Austin to Atlanta (through Nashville) we blew 2 tires between the motorhome and car dolly both in Arkansas. I was driving the motorhome when it blew a rear tire. Fun stuff! The Trooper that stopped said he'd never seen anybody change a tire that fast, and it was the first time in 2 years he didn't have to do it. We told him he could take the 120ft/lb lugnuts off and do it again if he wanted, but he declined.
Painters FAVORITE trick.....buy the cheap paint at Lowes and keep re-filling those 5-gallon bucks of top-brand paint, letting customers think you're using the good stuff. I know several painters, it's a typical ploy. Many people in the world will try to screw ya or stick it to you...it's about having the time to find the right deal AND THEN LETTING YOUR FRIENDS KNOW ABOUT IT!
Lowe's paint is the way to go. As for terminex....well.....I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AS IT'S ILLEGAL......BUT................find the oldest most established exterminator in your area and make friendly. Most of them are putting down Termidor now and I hear it's quite effective......BUT....I have heard that a few of the more established exterminators still have some Chlordane stashed and use it one their own homes and the homes of good friends. It's what I hear anyways........YMMV.
Contractors are shady as hell man! You'd think with all of the tricks up their sleeves they'd be filthy rich. Watch out for 'em! BTW - funny thread
I know the former owner of Terminex. Back when he owned the company things were just dandy, but now the company flat out sucks.
Huh....I must look like a b!tch, if you're in Charleston and you don't hit me up for lunch.....'sigh'....
