The next generation of F1s is here in the new Ferrari lineup and at least in the AMV8. I was told the AM new system was called sport shift (by AM) and the main difference between the new generation F1 and the old is the new linkage is of an S design. The older/original linkage had both vertical and horizontal movement similar to what one sees on the shift gate. The newer design design being an S type handle/linkage allows less horizontal movement of the shifter linkage making the shifts quicker....or something to that effect. He told me ferrari did a fabulous job on the 430 (nice hearing one exotic dealer talk nice about another), and the AMV8 was quickern****.

Anyone else know anything more? Are indeed the F1s still a Magneti Marelli license and is the hardware still theirs and the software the auto manufacturers? Or have the various manufacturers developed their own linkages?
