i owned this car for 6 years, i was searching online and saw a couple things that stuck out to me and then i checked the VIN and yes it was my old car! hahaha. When i got rid of it everything was gone, it had been hit about 3 times, and driven very very very hard and way more miles than 39K. I am not sure schmitt even knows ...ay....but i dumped the car to a dealer for about 4500, and informed him of all the problems. Great car for the time i had it.
Schmitt has another car to watch out for. I posted a month ago, 1968 GTO, black. My brother built that car. Nice, great driver. He sold it on ebay to a guy in Iowa, who (?) sold it to Schmitt. The problem was that the car has a 326, not the factory 400. The guy in Iowa restamped the vin # on the engine block as the original & relisted it on ebay.
Search the BBB on ole' Danny ****............. Now are you sure you want to buy that next car from him???
The message here is simple. NEVER buy a car off Ebay. If there is an Ebay car you like, approach the seller personally. You could be bidding on trash and not know it. If the seller won't talk to you, then that must be a hint? I would never do business with a dealer that sells via Ebay, unless they are using it as an advertising medium, which some do. The way to tell is that the reserve or "Buy it now" price is so high it never sells. Caveat Emptor
Geez Kboy, never, ever? That's a pretty black and white statement. If you've never heard anything good about Jags I'll be happy to tell you a couple. Let's see... for one, WOMEN LOVE JAGUARS. I could probably think of a couple more. BTW, the asking price on the XJS... as they say in Texas, "Sure is pretty proud of that car isn't he?" $26k with a $4k DISCOUNT. Woohoo. Such a deal. Would be lucky to get $12 from somebody who wasn't aware of the three wrecks and rollback - IMHO.
I continue to never hear anything good about Kboy007. I guess thats why they are on my block list. I've owned three of them. My current has had 125k miles, plenty of racing, daily red line abuse, and $500 in break/fix items. Its been in two accidents, and has zero mechanical or electrical gremlins. I've skipped all major service intervals since it had 52k miles and I decide what it needs preventative maintenance wise. Jaguars can be plenty reliable. But what do I know? Here's whats on the menu, prepared especially for you... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sunny, Could that bird be a... > > swallow? Wonder if Kboy knows who Malcolm Sayer was. Probably doesn't care. '78 XJ6L FI here. Chrome acorns on cam covers. Love it.
The car was actually great for many years i never had one problem, i was actually shocked! Far better than other "jag stories" i have heard.
This is 100% indisputable. Women LOVE Jaguars. My good friend who owns an exotic car store (and is a chauvinist pig among other things) says this: "Well you see Nick, there are three kinds of cars. 'Normal' cars, which are well, normal and will never help you get any 'action'. Then there are the 'closers'- the 'closers' will give you a good excuse to extract a girl from the club, bar or coffeehouse to go for a ride. The best 'closer' is a Jaguar XK8. Finally there are the 'pullers' which you can drive up to a popular club and women will pull themselves out of line to talk to you and ASK YOU for a ride. There are only 3 cars that 'pull', Ferrari, Lamborghini and for some strange reason a Viper RT/10." You know which car he bought right after his divorce for personal use? A Blue/Tan Jaguar XK8. Women love them. From a reliability perspective, my 322hp XJR was rock solid except one O2 sensor failure. It gave me the most pleasure of any car I've ever owned. Put about 50K on her- from 29K to 76K. Nick
