Do other drivers try to scare you ?

You're all over the place.

If they want to get a look at the car, who says their trying to scare anyone. People tailgate all the time, who says that's a scare tactic?

I've never seen this sort of behavior before and I'm assuming people in larger cities just fall into the crown with their flashy cars.

 

I find alot of people trying to pass me even if I am going 20 mph over the speed limit. And when I stop at a light I find cars come up so close to my bumper and they dont do it near as much in my daily driver. Minor things I guess.

 

People not only try to pass me, I've noticed a lot of people try to cut me off. However, for every a$$mole out there, there are a dozen great people giving thumbs up and otherwise showing interest and respect at the same time.

 

Nope have not seen it. Most of the time people want to see the car closer or wave with a thumb up. I do get the kid every so often who wants to run a F430. Usually I do not bother.

It seems that most of the time people have not seen a Ferrari before and just are curious. I have had people follow me into a parking lot to talk cars. I kind of like that. I have met nice people that way!

I occassionally get this guy from lake county challanging me to race the F40 against his ford GT...

 

I do the exact same thing, give plenty of room, drive the speed limit in the city, accelerate normally, .... etc.

AND I was just about to post a thread with the same observations...

So far, I've had a turbo Dodge Ram, a 60-something pickup and even yesterday a mid-80s Subaru wagon try to race me off of the line including tailgating and ZZZOOOOOOOMMMMIIIIINNNNNGGGGG past me as if to say "OOOOO, see me, I just beat your ferrari.....".

Idiots......

The worst thing is to pass someone at a legal speed and have them as you overtake them SPEED UP!!!!!! so you cant pass.

I had a harley a few days ago drive past me with exhaust-a-blazing (I mean I thought Ferrari's were loud, why are Harley's allowed to have straight pipes), then get in front of me and slow to 20 in a 30 MPH zone as if to say "I'll race you"........ I hit the brakes and slowed to 10 and waited until he got the message and sped up.

I love my car, really do, but its the OTHER people on the road that makes me self-conscience when I drive it.

I was driving an Fchatter's 328 and a teenager in an old 5.0 Mustang jumped two lanes on an open freeway just to cut me off.

 

Oh yes, there is no doubt at all that a few people have deliberately cut me off.
One in particular in a very dangerous and illegal manner, forcing me to radically change speed and lanes.

Some people simply are somehow offended. Most aren't.

Some drool - some the fool. Such is life.

Some people take the sight of the car as a sight of someone who is affluent and they can take advantage of with a lawsuit. I am very aware of other people on the road who might be looking for a handout from a traffic incident. Most people are observers who just get in the way from looking, but there are a few exceptions. Just be alert of your surroundings.

 

Very often I have drivers following me till home......nothing to be scared about.......they just want to get a close look of the car.

 

Here's one for you guys:

I was driving with another Ferrari owner this morning (gorgeous morning here in Detroit today!!) taking a nice drive down the freeway on our way for a nice 40 mile loop and and a stop for coffee. All of the sudden this f#@king idiot just had to wedge his way in between our two cars. This guy just could not help himself but to get in between us and made it impossilbe for me to get around him so I could not get back behind my friend.

Has this ever happened to you? At first he was tailing me and then he just had to pass me because he undoubtedly saw that there was another Ferrari in front of me.

Following someone home is a no-no. If I'm being followed and I'm nearing my destination I lose the following car.

 

Yep, been there, done that.

Freaking jerks just can't help themselves, that is why they are jerks.

 

They try to cut in front if you're just doing around the speed limit.(I hate this as it can kick of rocks that lie between lanes) So, to avoid it I'll drive more aggressively and close the gap if I see a guy sneaking up ready to do this.

 

Sounds like we all have the same problems over here in Italy while driving Ferraris

 

what about Ferrari days while your driving all Ferraris on a single lane and the smarty has to cut you off and slow you down to break the Ferrari line up.
This happens sometimes when the police escort us as well.Its fun seeing the Police telling these a--holes off!

 

Here on the Oregon Coast I rarely see another Ferrari. Lots of Corvettes, a few Porsches, but to date, I have not seen another Ferrari on the road. I've seen a couple in the shop though.

I have a lot of people crowd around the car both on the road and in the parking lots if I park and go into a store. Sometimes when I come out the crowd is so big I can't see the car. Lately the crowds have been slacking off though, so I think the novelty factor is wearing off and I'm finally being left alone. That suits me fine. On the road I usually get some guy in a pickup trying to keep up with me and ocasionally they bunch real close at traffic lights. Their problem is that when they get close they cannot see the car over their hoods, so at the next light they back off a little. If I'm driving in the country then there's usually a pickup trying to keep up with me. I don't do a lot over the speed limit, but I don't slow down for the corners either, so they usually only follow close for one or two corners then they back off. There are a few slow learners though.

here in fl we have a law that allows the use of deadly force to protect ourselves from harm. some one driving agressively can, and if their doing it to me will, be shot.

 

Well, you SHOULD be a little concerned! they may also want a close look at where the car LIVES, and what other goodies you have to steal!!
If somone even pulls into my neighborhood behind me from the main road, and had been behind me for a while... I blow right past my street and go around the block. If thier still behind me, their definately following me, and... time to lose em!

 

You know those ricers are always out to prove something

they know they are the laughing stock of the automotive world so they gotta put work in some how to get some rep.

 

I have Ferrara Testarossa I seldom have time to drive it, however I find some of what you say to be true.

Every time I take a drive I find cars driving very close to my rear bumper passing me for no good reason.

One time a fellow driving an S-10 Blazer pulled behind me waving his arms for me to stop I thought maybe I didn’t tighten my dealer plate and that it was flapping about on the rear bumper.

So I stopped and this is what happened, the guy said he had posters of this car on the wall in his home and he had never seen a real one before and would I mind if he just walked around the car to look it over.

I felt a little embarrassed but said sure look the car over and in the end this guy was really happy to have seen a Ferrari and thanked me for my time.

I’m living in a small town and one rarely sees some cars like this.

I don’t think they are an “******” far from that in my case what I think it is, people are just inquisitive and share our enjoyment of nice & unusual cars.

The funny thing is that my EVO gets far more hostility from other drivers than the Ferrari does, in terms of getting cut off or intentionally blocked.

It seems like everybody these days seems to think there's some great prize for being the last one through the light. As though messing up someone else's commute will make your miserable day seem less dingy.

It's getting pathetic out there.

It's getting to be an aggressive culture of incompetence: Not only do people defend their right to be incompetent, but they attack anyone else's right not to be.

It's depressing how prophetic some of the social elements of Asimov's Caves of Steel were.

Other drivers aren't really trying to scare me. But the level of stupidity, inattention, and incompetence *is* scary in itself.

 

I've recently figured out how to stop all the problems. I have a bumper sticker that says "BLACKWATER secured vehicle, Stay back at least 50 feet or..."
