From another thread. Hey, spacers help handling? I thought it was just a look thing. There is another thread where someone is concerned about spacers hurting handling. Now I'm confused. What are the facts? Do spacers improve looks and improve handling? Bee Jay Edit: Hey Dandee, I don't want to hijack your thread. I think I'll start a new one. So, do spacers help handling, or are they just to improve looks? Bee Jay
Putting on 25mm rear spacers will definitely improve the handling (i.e. make it less skittish in the rear). This is particularly so for the 89-91 cars. What this does is make the earlier cars handle like the Speciale and spider which had their rear track widened by 50mm from 1578mm in the earlier cars to 1628mm by adding 25mm of offset to each wheel.
Yes they improve the handling, but so does the lip spoiler on the SS cars. For that matter changing out to 355 wheels really helps too. Remember there is no need to add front spacers except for looks. The cure is in the stagger between front/rear.
I initially did spacers on mine and they made a big difference. Then I bought a set of 355 Challenge wheels, and the car's handling was transformed. The front lip spoiler aids in high speed stability.
