    $6k is for the motor only and does not incl the labor & what not to get it running (btw, i suggest you add ~$1k to that for the 30k maintenance kit before slapping it to the car).

    Yeah, but wouldn't it be fun to roll 75K miles on a single timing belt and prove all the "pundits" wrong? With a spare motor in the garage, you could almost do the 30K on the spare and have it "prepped and ready" for that fateful day.

    That'd be seriously cool beans.

    Given that the motor is out of the car already you might as well do the 30K on it. The R&R labor costs seems to be the big chunk with the 348, oh, and yeah the water pump, and the tensioners, um, but you know what I mean generally....

    Would be fun to have an extra though - one to wear and one to wash.

    Perhaps this is an engine that already snapped a belt, doesn't run and requires a rebuild.

    Additionally, at $6k plus shipping, it's still an expensive option.
