Has happened a few times to me. I park WAY in the back row to avoid this happening in an empty car park and yet always someone has to park beside you.

I reckon they get out and take pics of their car beside yours.

The worst time for me was when 2 BIG suv's parked either side of me. In an open 200 car car park, they had to park beside me.

I eventually squeezed in without any damage to paint/doors................but only because I had stuff to do that morning and didnt want to wait around.

 

I hate it too, but my frustration is tempered by the realization that we have to share the road with the spacially challenged. Who was it that said "large white vehicles are invariably poorly driven"? Sure, I take the same measures to prevent damage to my car.
I have a proposal: let's issue paintball guns to all motorists. When you take offense at someone's driving, just put a splat on their car. That way, while everybody will have splats (I'm not immune from the occasional dumb move), when you see a car with lots of splats on the rear quarter, you'll know the guy is about to cut you off, so you can slow down and make room. If the splats are all over his car, watch out! Where would you splat this minivan?

I park my f355 in two spots. In front of the showroom at my shop and my garage. Period.

I'm on the fence on this one. Most people don't care about their own car let alone someone else's. Some people will drive anything.

I would suggest that next time you park far away, as you did, but also take up two spaces. Otherwise, if you know you are going to have to park it, and stuff like this bothers/worries you, take another car.

That said, the driver of the minivan is an ******* for sure.

 

That is why I like to park not only in the boondocks, but in the last spot in the row, with the drivers door next to the planter. This way if the idiots want to park close I can still get into the car. Learned this after a few years of morons doing just what happened to you.

 

At the public places I regularly take the 308 (supermarket, gym), I've identified the safest spaces and always park in them.

The body and paint are near-flawless, but I can't just keep it in the garage or limit driving to only around the neighborhood.

 

I do like this idea, but I'm a bit curious as to how you'd recommend collecting the cat urine??? Pardon me kitty, would you mind peeing in this cup please? LOL

Savages! Clearly, there are pricks everywhere. I drove my 348 to the gun range on Friday, and on the way home a guy in a sh!tty looking old Camry drives past me, scowls and flips me the bird! Here I was minding my own business, driving the speed limit (truthfully) in the far right-hand lane, having not done *anything* to piss off anyone. I mentioned it to my wife later that day, and she said, "He probably just didn't like your car." I replied, "Well, I didn't really like his car either, but I wouldn't think of flipping him off because of it."...

 

Am I the only one who noticed that the O.P. parked about three feet away from the line on the passenger side of his car, while the drivers' side was right up against the line?

Suren... sorry, but while the minivan driver was apparently not very mindful of what they were doing, you also didn't help yourself very much at all in this situation.

 

Good point! but there were other spaces around. It's obvious, to me, that the minivan chose to park there. I'm not sure if he intentionally wishes to block you in. Most people don't think that far ahead. For all we know, the driver just wants to be next to a nice car!
