do vinyl protectants actually extend its life?

    Personally I am not a fan of glossy vinyl so I would rather not apply "protectants" to it unless they actually prolong its life.

    What is the consensus regarding these products, which I presume are all silicone in some form.

    My Dino sits in a dark garage in So Cal except for its monthly drive on a Sunday afternoon, so UV exposure is not an issue.

    Yes it does. It will eventually dry out and crack. The good protectors do not have silicone like Lexol.. There are a bunch of them without silicone unless you prefer Armour All which has silicone and turns things orange when exposed to the sun over time
