Paper profit on appreciation, but If I deduct costs to get there, even, and assuming cap gains tax its a loss.

Met a number of fellow owners who I really like.

I do not ever profit from mine, but if I do I would donate it straight to charity.

 

Bought my 308 for the equivalent of USD 46,400 in 2003, sold her last week for the equivalent of USD160,200.

Even factoring in extensive work over the last 13 years, insurance, fuel, tyres etc. have made a tidy profit.

Not to mention the fun!

I saw that guy about 8 yrs ago while on vacation in Chicago.
He was driving that car down the strip, clearly just cruising , shirtless, while blasting 80's rock tunes. No one seemed impressed.

baller status quickly turns to burnout status when you have to use that vehicle to hustle to sell rides in it for a few hundred bucks, esp. when you have to be there as well, b/c I dunno, you don't have the proper insurance as a professional rental business.
he'd be a perfect character for Will Ferrell to play in a movie.

I think he'd make more money selling his technique for using gold Krylon paint in the engine compartment to yield 20%+ gains in hp and torque. Maybe he has a Marshall amp mod cranked to 11 that does it.

Back in the 90s, an associate opened an Italian Café restaurant and I offered my Mondial for their TV video ad. No payment received but lots of free dining afterwards. I miss their fantastic breakfast pizza.
