I bought my '95 Mazda RX-7 right out of residency (I'm an anesthesiologist). Still own it, still bone stock, only 42,000 miles on it. Don't think I could ever sell it, as it represents the completion of many, many years of hard work to become a doctor. It shares garage space with my 355, which I use as a (mostly) daily driver. Don't have any plans to sell the 355 anytime soon, either, but the Mazda isn't leaving my family in my lifetime.

I don't tend to sell cars. In past 30 years I have junked or used for parts more than I sold off and there are more in the fleet now than those combined. Wife's 87 Volvo bought new and driven till it died, lives on in baby girls Volvo.
The 2001 Dodge 2500 4x4 V10 truck I will keep for the tow vehicle off roader and pull kids out vehicle as long as it runs, as no one makes a comparable big block gas truck now.
The 66 and 68 Chrysler Newport convertibles, the 85 and 87 X1/9 Bertones, the 82 Mondial 8 and the 49 International Super A will be around untill my wife or kids sell them at the big auction after I am gone.
The kids' disposable cars (Jeep Cherokee, Volvo 240, Dodge Dakota) will go with them if they don't destroy them first.

My Sciroccos, MGB, Alfa Romeo & Ferrari are ALL keepers. I will never sell any of them for any reason.

BUT, simply for the sake of this thread, if I had a gun to my head and had to keep one, it would be the 80 Scirocco. My first car. Got it in high school and I still drive it today, 24 years later.

Its been 3 years since I got my first car. Its a 1995 Nissan 240sx. Loved her to bits. still going strong. No shes no exotic. Some would say with an upturned nose "Thats just a silly Datsun" but to me this car is so priceless. And I mean this specific 240sx. Its such a fantastic machine. Specially for a first car. I mean she taught me so much about handling a car all the way to its limit. With a measly 155hp its really not what you would call powerfull, but everytime i get fed up with the lack of power and noise and think of selling her i just look at her and i just cant do it. Too many sweet memories. Yes for anyone wondering it will get modified but the external and internal looks will be pretty similar to stock. Lastly if anyone is curious I would highly recommend a s14 240sx as a first car, cheap rwd power, massive aftermarket support, and lastly it has no traction control or any electronic handling nannies to take care of the driver when things get ugly, but its not a mad axe murderer cough viper gts cough, so unless you did something monumentally stupid you can recover.

I know to most others it will be just a datsun but to those that have their keepers, they just might understand why i feel the way i do for this car.

    NSX and the Boxer.
For mid engined cars (my fave) these are completely opposite poles.
But both so unique and special in their ways.

I plan on keeping my camaro long after I get my exotic. Me and this car have been through quite a bit.

She will get either a Turbo or a big block and from there on I plan on racing it during the weekends when I can't drive the exotic.

That would be awesome to say "Yeah I've had this car since my early 20's now that I'm in my late 40s" and be on a show like pinks or pass time.

Yeah, I'd hold onto those, too! Amazing collection.

I plan to keep my 308 forever (or until oil production ceases completely.) ;)

Unfortunately we're all just custodians for a while, some longer than others. It's always nice to be able to hang on as long as possible though.

Indeed. I never thought I would sell my 348SS, but life happens. Hope to never sell my 308QV either, but again, these cars are ours for a while, and we are responsible in my mind for making them better while we have them for the next owner.

My Stradale is the second car I have ever purchased that I do plan on keeping "forever". It truly pushes all the right buttons for an F-car1

I tend not to sell cars that I own. But of the four that I have there are two that will never leave.

1989 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am - the first car I ever purchased myself. Its pushing 200k miles. I switched the engine from the anemic 170hp 305ci tbi engine to a carbed 350 from a 1970 Camaro SS topped by heads from a 71 Corvette LT1. It sucks gas, but has been extremely reliable for years - not to mention the emotional attachment I have with the car

1985 Ferrari 308 GTSi QV - This is the car I dreamed of owning for more than 30 years. I finally got it a few months ago. It is Metallic Black/Creme and simply stunning. Every day I walk into the garage and just look at it - it never fails to bring a smile to my face.
