Art Center College of Design annual Classic. Heat of 106 in Pasadena, CA kept attendance low, but many Ferraris and a little of everything. The 1961 Alfa Zagato raced in Gran Prix of Pescara in 1961, a race which I attended as Count Volpi's guest. Small world huh? Walking around you see and hear: there's the guy who designed the DB9 (Fisker) , there's the guy who penned the Audi TT (Freeman Thomas), etc etc. Many key players who design our cars were there. Excellent pictures...and a show I'm sorry I couldn't see! Sometimes we get the cars out at our shows, but never the celebrity. Just gorgeous. You crazy Californians and your excess of impeccable taste!
I think it is funny seeing Leno in the background of some of the pics just schmoozing with folks. great pics!!!
What is the red one in the the 6th picture of the first set, the 2nd picture of the "sexiest" set. That's really sweet. And no, we do not get shows like that here
More photos of "sexiest". Best viewed on full screen laptop in the bathroom. Local car shows? Yes. Like this? No way! A fabulous collection of cars, expertly photographed. Thanks for posting!
I overheard a discussion, and got the impression this was an after-market company and several had been made. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
They just started up the production line. The ochre-colored one was the protype shown everywhere for the past 6 months or so. The red one was supposed to be a little further down the delivery list, but was rushed to near completion for this show. The company is called Genaddi Design and you can get more info at http://www.gtx1.com Basically you ship your GT (and a check for roughly 40 grand) to their shop in Green Bay, and a few months later you get the open top version you see here. A 4 piece jigsaw puzzle covers the opening and can be configured in several different ways. Smartest 40 grand any GT owner could spend, as far as I'm concerned. Save your head from banging those stylish but lethal doors.
Show off. Thanks for taking the time to upload all of those great photos. Look like Amelia quality show.
I was there also and the cars are truly the cream of the crop. The host site is one of the most well-respected design colleges around and boasts some impressive alumni. With the show's emphasis on design, some absolutely stunning vehicles always show up. Yes, I wholeheartedly agree, but I am not familiar with classic Euro cars. First is a Ferrari, last is an Alfa, but I do not know what the specific model names are. Can anyone help identify these 3 or any other non-obvious ones from the photo-set?
