The reason I (and I don't know if this info has been posted yet) ask is that on Wedensday the 29th at 9pm eastern. The Discovery Channel will start airing Top Gear!!

Here's a link to the details.

    http://dsc.discovery.com/schedule/episode.jsp?episode=1&cpi=30445&gid=0&channel=DSC

It appears that the discovery channel are airing Top Gear in the same way Speed Channel did 5th Gear.
They are airing the 2004 shows on their network. Now all we need is Speed to start reairing new episodes of 5th Gear and thing's will be oky in the world.

Oh and Rob I didn't know where to put this thread so I put it here. So if it doesn't go here you can move it.

    Yours Humbly,

    Andy K.

No, these will be more than a year old. Also, if I remember correctly they have been shortenened to 30 minutes (though I might be wrong). It is great that they are finally airing top gear in the US even if it isn't the new episodes.

Just another heads up ... do NOT miss it! It's the episode when they race from the studio in the UK to Monaco. JC is in a DB9 and the others only use trains. Awesome show. Doesn't the beat the race they did the year after (612 vs plane, from the studio to Verbier...), but it still is awesome! Can't wait!

I think for the US market, it should be 30 minutes. Top Gear has interviews that last maybe 15-20 minutes with a special (most of the time British) guest, which includes the guest in the economy car. Plus, there are those sit down discussions on current Euro cars, which wouldn't fit well in the US tv programming. 30 minutes is cutting it down to the good stuff that can be enjoyed by all equally. I'm glad it finally made it to the US because 5th Gear was a little too boring. I still download the Top Gear episodes, they're only 350mb.

Do you guys understand Jeremy Clarkson's sense of humour?

The 612 to Verbier was good fun... only spoiled when he said, "and that was truly how it happened."

What? So, they had about 30 sets of camera crew along the way to film as he went past in one 13 hour take!!!!

"Sorrryyyy Jeremy luvvy, would you be a sweet heart and just run past us again, maybe a little slower this time dear, we missed the last one."

Bit like when 5th Gear came to film one of our PistonHeads.com V.Max events... Tiff says "right, can you get a few of your cars to get quite close to the timing laser as you go past as we're trying to get some low angle shots to really get the feeling of speed."
Gixxer goes past in the SL65 at about 186mph.... 12 inches from the laser trap.... the camerman was nearly blown away by the back draft!

    Made good telly though :D

I love his sense of humor!!! Gets me ROFLMFAO.

As for the races, I'm pretty sure they could shoot inside the car one way (with a sound guy and camera guy), and do the outside shots (like you mentioned) on the way back.
