.....Replace your exhaust manifolds to install a exhaust system from Superformance or any other aftermarket supplier? I'm wanting to get rid of the stock cat/muffler system and go to a "Euro" type(-cats) on my US 78'GT4. I was told I may have to replace my exhaust manifolds also. That dosent seem right to me. You think you would just remove the old system at the collectors, replace the donuts and bolt on the new system that was made for the car. Yes? Help!

I have never had a GT4 - however - I never had to in any of my f-cars...

I guess if you get a different "special" exhaust - there might be some reason you would have to - but most of the aftermarkets I know of - you do not have to...

I think others that have had a F-car in your model would give a more definitive answer - but I think you should be ok - as long as the set up you get is "standard" for your model/year...

Usually the headers stay on the car and you bolt up from the collectors on back.

Go to the Ferrari owner's site, and compare the USA versus Euro exhaust systems and see what the specific differences are.

Thanks to all who replied. I will do all that you advised. I kinda have to go with Spasso, it makes the most sence to me. I just wish I could find someone who has used the Superformance exhaust to tell me what they think of it. Looks to be the best deal out there. But I am investigating all options. Thanks again to all.

The reason most systems are from the headers back is because the original headers do the job as good as most aftermarket. The only reason to really change them is because the OEM headers are shot and have holes in them.
