Do you know this 1976 308 GT4 or the PO?

    Hi all,
    I recently purchased a 1976 308 GT4 on eBay from a person in Roseville, MI. The owner was the son of the actual PO who had passed away in 2007. The family had no history on the car and other than the car show plaques and flyers that came with the car, I have next to nothing to go on. I did find one entry in the Dino GT4 registry that has one individual for 1989-90. The chassis VIN is 12580. It does seem to have been delivered to MI from the factory so I don't know if it stayed in the area the whole time.

    The PO was Mr. Curley Grewe and he seems to have acquired the car around 1997 when it was in a salvage situation. He restored it from whatever state it was in around 1999-2000 He participated in several shows, one being the Tour d'Elegance at Meadow Brook in 2000 and the Italian Happening in 2004 (and maybe other years)

    If anyone might have know Mr Grewe or even faintly remembered this car, I'd be most grateful for the information. If you have other suggestions on how I could find out it's history in Michigan, I'd be grateful. This is my first Ferrari and I'm trying to document what little history I can find as it just seems important to remember all the work and care the PO put into this car.

    Contact Carbon (carbfax) he runs a database and has pretty good knowlege of these cars

    Also, may I suggest a picture of it now and maybe a picture of it back when, if you have any from the seller.

    I totally forgot the pics! Doh! Here you go, one before and the second one after, they are only a few weeks apart though. You can see the MI plate in the first pic. He had a Cauley Ferrari dealership plate trim but when I called them, they wouldn't tell me anything other than they hadn't had a GT4 in there in 10 years. Even if they did know something they wouldn't release anything without a power of attorney form from the son. Felt like I was digging up medical history versus just a car service record!

    Hello Russell,

    As a suggestion, you may wish to request a complete title history from MI Secretary of State on your 308 GT4. Generally, title histories from MI SOS only go back ten years, so it may not reveal much info on / about when "Mr. Grewe" acquired the unit around 1997. But who knows? When you are searching for anything, sometimes "something" is helpful.

    looking in the Ferrari Register from 1989,the listing has 308 GT4 #12580 being owned by Mark T. Conwell at 313 5832255. it says the car had 38K miles and was in very good condition in Michigan.The price listed was $56,500,but that seems high. That's the only info listed.
