How many are not going to work tomorrow? How many have children heading off to school during this Federal holiday? What are your thoughts? (Talk among yourselves.)

I'm working, all my kids all have off, high school and college.

I'm not troubled by MLK day, are you? Do you have a problem with it being a Federal holiday?

Who's the more influential Italian of the millenium, Columbus or Ferrari? I say Ferrari. I mean, Columbus was lost, after all.

Does anyone realize that he was a hyprocrite with all of his adultery??? isnt it hard to honor someone like that? Malcom X imo, was a better role model/leader.

What does adultery, or, for that matter, communist ties, have anything to do with why he is celebrated?

thats what I was thinking too.
My dad grew up in Chicago when King was alive and he said everyone viewed him as a trouble maker that just came around up north to round up publicity, like Jesse Jackson. He tells me of when he was at work when King was killed how nobody gave a **** less. And he was mearly a figurehead, lots of people did what King did, only King got shot for it.

His cause was good, but the man wasn't :(...IMHO...Im sure Ill flamed up the ass for this, and called racist.

The sad thing is how in school he's made out to be almost like Jesus; when he's so far from it. Its sad how they choose to ignore all his wrongs for their liberal ideals.

But whatever, I dont care, tommorrow (today now) is just another day for me.

AGAIN!!!! THE CAUSE !!!!!!WAS!!!!!!! GOOD, THE MAN WASN'T!!!!!

I was happy to have it off until this famous line from all my teachers "Since we have Monday off..." So now i have about 3x the amount of homework i had before.
But in all seriousness i know very little about what he did and did not do. All they tell us in school is that he was a peace maker and that he should be honored for that. I want all the facts to form my own thoughts.

We work on Presidents Day, Columbus Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and a host of others.

There are just so many Federal Holidays anymore........sometimes it seems a little silly. After all, now they all land on Mondays to make for a long weekend, not to really celebrate the lives of those the day represents.

THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M A RACIST, OR ANTI ITALIAN, OR A MONARCHIST, neither as far as I can tell, is Dr. Tommy.

Without MLK, the civil rights movement of the 60s would have been much more violent. Despite his faults, and we all have many ourselves don't we, MLP preached peaceful resistence for which we all owe him a debt of graditude. Most all of the other so called black leaders of that era were teaching violence. I appreciate MLK's great contributions to America and I was born and raised in the deep South where there were still "colored" water fountains and even my family doctor had seperate entrances for blacks and whites until 1966 or so...

Nothing wrong with MLK or taking a day for him. I just have to work for a living. I take Xmas, 4th, Thanksgiving, New Years. I work the rest.

If anyone wants to read into my MLK/always work thing, how do you explain the other days I don't take off? The fact that I am from Birmingham, Alabama has nothing to do with it.

4 days a year is enough for me.
