I constantly see new threads asking people how they react to others approaching their cars, or how they avoid their questions, etc. etc. However I've yet to see a thread that asks do you actually like the attention you get. Do you enjoy people staring at you in awe, approaching you w/ enthusiasm and sometimes good and sometimes bad questions? I'm very interested.

I have a 2000 360 Modena w/ Tubi and I enjoy that people like the car, but having people come and talk to me asking for rides or to sit in it really bothers me.

I have mentioned before, in the first days I got my TR I got flashed twice.

Some of the attention is great ..kids, dad's etc. Some attention is bad...Ricers, vette owners ( no offence ).

It all comes down to how you reciprocate the attention. Whne I drive the TR i am in pleasure mode - no rush, no hurry. So I will pull over to let people take proper pics ( no the blurry in action paprazi kind) talk to them, open the doors etc.

After that the encounter is good and no problems results.

Ricer in my city tend to come upto you, boost about there extra 2 hp from the coffee can exhaust and boast about how much bigger theirs is compared to yours.
Crotch rocket guys are generally the same.

The important thing is you treat people with respect regardless of what genre of cars the like and whether or not they respect your genre.

I love my car... I love driving it... I have nothing else to prove to myself about it.

Just drive your car and enjoy it.
If it is sick like mine is right now, just sit in it in your garage and make vrooom, vrooom vroom sounds.

Worthe the price of the admission.

I hate attention or being the focus of it. I dislike making people feel jealous...something a Ferrari does rather easily. That is why I mostly end up driving my car late at night when no one is around.

That said the only time I DO like the focus is as said by our fellow chatter:

It does not bother me at all. I always like giving kids rides and people asking about the car. Usually they are children anyway. They are the ones that will be buying these cars in the future so I try to help.

I hate the 'rich' factor. Whoa...your in a Ferrari...your rich!... ....No I just have a good finance plan...

But then again its my dads Ferrari, I drive a Chevelle and I love people giving me thumbs up and stareing...as long as they dont follow me or stalk me...

My car is a traditionally low profile model but still gets a lot of attention. I don't mind a wave or thumbs up or two. I think the best single moment of attention in my car was when I was rounding the corner at the end of our street and a little boy who wasn't any older than six gave me a huge wave, thumbs up and grin. Very Cool Kid!

Another interesting incident was when I was filling up at my local Mobil and a guy maybe in his early thirties came up to me and said "hey, nice 330, I always liked the 4 headlight model". He was very knowledgeable about the car and went on to tell me that he was a second generation Italian American and that his grandfather had worked in the Ferrari factory in the 1950's and 60's, retiring in the late 60's. I don't know if it was BS or not but this guy seemed completely at ease and appearance-wise definitely could have been of Italian descent.

If he's hot, then yes. :)

Just kidding. I actually would prefer if the car were invisible to everyone else....like Wonder Woman's jet. Although with as many times people have changed lanes into me because they can't see me or they don't bother to look, it may as well be.

I don't mind the attention. Today's amusing comment was from a young guy who came up on a bicycle while I was pumping gas and made the statement that the TR 'looked smaller than it did in magazines'. I couldn't think of a quick comeback, but I know what the person was trying to say. A similar comparison would be with media celebreties. They look huge on the big screen, but when you meet them in real life, they're tinier than I am. Sometimes reality bites I suppose. Plus I apologize now to anyone else who believes an F-car requires both lanes of traffic while going down the road due to its massive width. Sorry to burst your bubble...

Just to touch on the girls subject, sure I love it if I'm not with my girlfriend and I'm driving the 360, why? Obviously girls love the car, but just never get involved with a girl that knows the specs of your car better then you do.. most importantly the price :)

I like girls who have no idea about cars and could care less, then you know you have a good one :)

Well said. The girl I'm dating now has little or no clue to my Ferrari's importance, or lack there of, although she does like it and appreciates it's beauty. We were on a date this week and she commented that riding in it was like living in a fish bowl.
    How so, I asked?
Her reply: Everyone around us is staring at us. I told her that I hadn't really noticed, but then I started paying attention to other drivers and pedestrians and she was right. Pass a guy in his yard and look in the rear view mirror and watch him turn and get another look. Sit at a traffic light and look around. All eyes focused toward me. It's kinda creepy, but I guess it's a small price to pay for being fortunate enough to drive something so rare and beautiful.

A few months ago I drove my car to the beach and had it parked in front of my freinds shop in O.C., MD. A family was coming off the boardwalk and a kid, maybe 11 yrs. old, yells to his Dad, "Wow a Ferrari and look it's a Quattrovalve." While he posed beside it for his Dad to snap some pictures, I pondered the thought that this car was built 8 years before this kid was even concieved, yet he still instantly knew what it was and appreciated it. The kid was cool, respectful, and was real excited to be standing next to a Ferrari, so I wandered over and opened it up so his Dad could snap a couple of shots of him behind the wheel. He was grinning from ear to ear.

I've owned the car for so long that sometimes I loose sight of the fact that it's "special."

As mentioned above the Civics and Neons sporting sewer pipe exhaust revving up beside you does get old. Gotta love those guys hanging wings on the back of front wheel drive cars??? Yeah.....

It depends on what type of attention.

I originally got 355 spider (rosse fiorano), but too many problems relating to attention, and switched the car to berlinetta (silver) in 2 months.

Now I have no problems at all so far. I guess a window between them & me makes difference on road.

Yea, my credit officers have all been female by coincidence, they get a kick out of it...

On the performance note, I had a 19 year old blond want to know 1/4 mile times. etc.

I said "I dunno, try it...and tossed her the keys"

She did OK driving and now wants to go track it...here's her phone number....

    No.

I bought my car for me, and it bothers me to be the focus of anyone's attention. There's a reason my 328 is not a LOOK AT ME color

To be honest, I’m curious to see how some of the physicians at the hospital were I work react to my new 328. I see their cars in the doctors’ garage. There is everything from a BMW Z8, wide body Porsche, Prowler, Viper to a Hummer. This might be fun.
