One of my favorite hobbies is photography and one of my favorite subjects are beautiful cars. During the summer, I often see a F360 parked about a mile from my home at a commercial building's parking lot. I so want to shoot this car from every angle possible, but I don't want the owner to get freaked out for whatever reason.

So, how would you feel about someone taking a bunch of pictures of your Ferrari to make some art out of a piece of art?

If it was a camera phone I wouldn't mind at all. If someone wanted to basically use the car as a model, I'd appreciate being asked.

I suggest you place a business card on the windshield tell the owner you would like to take your shots.

    Good luck

I use to ask people before I took picture of their cars, but I always got the same reaction, so I quite asking. Everyone would say of course. I had a few people that gave me a funny look and basically said, it's a public place, you can photograph anything you want.

Most of the owners know me now and they know that I respect their privacy. I always edit license plates and when the owners tell me they don't want to be in the posted pictures, I will blur them out or I won't post them at all.
I try not to take picture with people in them at all.

Gee, I hope I'm not offending anyone by admiring their cars.

I've always been flattered when someone wants to take a picture of my car. I have absolutely no problem with picture taking. I love to share the experience as much as I can.

Go into the place and ask around until you find out who owns the car. Ask the owner and see what they say. If they let you (which they probably will) take the pics and send them a nice enlarged one. I can't imagine anyone telling you they didn't want to do that. And when you're done make sure you post the pics on Fchat.

Believe me...EVERYBODY in the complex knows whose car it is and will probably be helpful.

    But ask first.

If you have a Ferrari and leave it in a public place, people will take pics. Just part of the ownership experience. I don't care. Some people ask first which is nice, but I don't get bothered by those who don't.

i have no choice. every time i take the car out, except the middle of the night, there will be some tourist taking a picture. its not because the car is so exceptional, but more because there arent too many roaming around anymore and its such an icon car. anyway, the only time it bothers me is when they try to flag me down or slow my progress.

here is a funny one for you. a few years ago when my kids were all still pretty young, i would always take one of them with me for a weekend drive - my wife's way of insuring that i would not attract the wrong kind of attention. and one time we happened to get stuck in some traffic just past harrods, and this whole gaggle of tourists started clicking away at the car. my daughter didnt understand what was happening and asked why everybody was taking her picture - so i told her that it was because she was the prettiest girl they had seen that day.....

I was asked for photos on my F few times, and okayed everytime.

Once I was approached by "aspiring model" who asked to take her photo w/ my car. She had a photographer w/ her already, and gave me their namecards. I thought it was strange that they are walking around the uptown to find a car to take photos.

Another occasion, 3 high schoolers were yelling at my car, and followed me home to take pics w/ their cell phone.

If someone was taking photos of my car w/out asking, I would definitely feel strange & violated. So asking always is a big plus. If I find that person okay, I gave them ride, too (of course, if they want to)

I take many many pics of cars for my website, and its not always possible to ask the owners permission. If I see a Ferrari in a parking lot somewhere and no one is with the car then I just go ahead and take the pics. Obviously if I can see the owner I usually ask, and most don't have a problem.

The only time I remember someone saying no was the owner of a 996 Turbo....but in general most owners seem honoured. :)

What if the owner isn't around when you see the car?

In speaking about admiration of Ferraris, I'm still laughing about (.) found on the windows of ferraris.

I found some of those marks on my car the other day. Who ever brought that up gets a kudo from me.

I think it's a compliment for someone to want to photograph my car. They don't have to ask. I would like to have an enlarged copy of the best photo though. Since anyone can get the license number, I don't worry about that either. If it becomes a problem I'll go back to parking it in the hangar. That way the no count, stinking, disrepectful thief has to break into the airport, then he has to find my hangar, then he has to break into it. There's two federal offenses there. The beauty of that is that there is no parole in the federal system. It also gives the local home land security and TSA (Thousands Standing Around) folks something they can sink their teeth into.

I'm quite flattered when anyone asks about the car or wants a picture. Being 20 years old, most of the people who recognize what it is are enthusiasts. I remember what it was like to see my first Ferrari and am always happy to make someone else's experience as memorable as possible.

Never I mind... Eventhough I own Ferraris, I still love taking photos of other guys Ferrari as well. Ferrari just a gorgeous thing driving in public. You drive it out, you are accepting to share her beauty to the public already. If you mind, then have them garage queen. The leaning on my Ferrari, that's when I become the most unresonable man ever...

What do you mean by 'a lot' of photos?
I don't mind if they take a couple of photos posing with the car without touching it.
But if they just keep on taking like every angle and never stop clicking as if they are taking model photo session then I would appreciate if they would have asked first.

If someone wants to take a picture of me and hang a 30x20 of it on their kitchen wall, then there is not a thing I can do about it, it's a free world (although I would find it a bit odd and put it down to them being particularly short sighted!)... so the car, no problem!

When I took it down to Spain in August, at a conservative guess, counting camera phones aswell, I would say the car had AT LEAST 500 shots taken of it.

Random girls in bikinis would come up and lay across the bonnet... after checking no-one was watching, which of course I was, happily sat 50 yards away having a coffee :D

People putting sticky finger prints all over it is part of owning a Ferrari, even though we, as owners, try not to when we look in other cars, we have to either put up with it or get paranoiod about leaving it anywhere. I would not dream of expecting someone to go to the expense of running me a print off just for the pleasure of taking a photo of my car ... snap away!

As others have implied, if it's for personal use (camera phones, point & shoots, a few shots) no problem, enjoy; on the other hand if someone takes advantage for commercial use (high-end motor drive cameras, 10's of shots, model draped over the car) then they should ask and get permission. Of course, the fee/consideration needn't be too steep, photos w/ models, phone numbers, etc :).

Thats something I would never do, as I find it disrespectful.....I admire it but never touch it unless of course the owner is around and has given me permission. :)

The best surprise I had was when my car appeared on the 2003 open house invitations at Fox Valley in west Chicago. I was there in 2002 and they took a picture of my car which was then featured on the invitation. I didn't know about it until I called to go and they said, "Oh, we used your car on the invitations. We didn't know who you were though. I'll save a stack of them for you"

I was really flattered about that!

The only time I've taken exception was at the Austin Art Car Ball one year.

I had left it parked on the street below the party, and I came out to find some kids on the car posing.

I told the guy to get off, and told his gf she could get on!!!! LOL!

    Fixed that problem.......

All was well until the newspaper posted it to the website, they called it a Lamborghini.................sigh.

I like the idea of putting a business card on the car and have the guy call to tell him what you want. Or if you ask around then the owner won't be annoyed I'm sure. I like the idea of someone else admiring my car enough to want to photograph it.
