Im going to be a senior this year and I think It all went by way too fast. Im not trying to say I think High School will be the ultimate but I just enjoy it now. If you have any words of wisdom for an 18 year old kid go for it.

Once you get out of High School, you will realize just how trivial High School is in the big scheme of things.

Of course, some people never realize this.

It did; correct grammar (and spelling) would be "way too quickly". :)

Don't look back on what has passed; look ahead to what you have yet to begin. In that manner, it won't fly by you.

Maybe getting stinky finger a few times could have changed that? :)

How could you miss high school when college(by far better times than high school) is on the way?

I miss high school because I lived it up and had a great time. The one thing I'd say is appreciate the free time when you have it and live it up. Once I got to college I became a good student and studied a lot, then it was off to grad school and now it's transitioning to a career (hardest of all the transitions so far, imo). Appreciate the things you can do now and get away with ;)

You owe me one pair of FOTL boxers mother****er.....................or is it uncle mother****er......

I kinda miss waking up and smoking dope in the morning while driving to school, sneaking off the premises to smoke dope, smoke dope on the way home, dropping acid, mesc and shrooms (though I do get some flashbacks so I do revisit the past). I guess high school was fun, don't remember much of it though...........................

My cousin is starting his senior year, too, but I think he's the total opposite. Then again, like how I was, I didn't give 2 sh*ts about going to a football game or dance. On the weekdays, I felt like going into Dallas to have a good time with folks who I was friends with (who were out) was more important.

    Why?

Because my school was fool of morons who got about 1 thing right when talking about a subject, and that's knowing there is a subject. In simple terms, they'd talk about the Iraq war, and only know correctly that there is a war. As for knowing why, how, status, or even where was off. Other than that, they'd pretty much act like they knew everything.

I had a great time in high school too - actually amazing time. I did the same crazy stuff. Parties, dances, sneaking out of the house, making out in my gf's basement while "watching a movie" - you name it. I still keep in great contact with my same "crew" from high school and still hang out with them occasionally and go to their weddings.

My point was, you miss it now but once you move on to your next experience in life, you won't miss it a bit. You will move on to college and onto perhaps the best years of your life. You will meet a wider variety of people, embark on much more meaningful relationships both at a friendship level and girlfriend level, and gain a much greater level of independence from living on your own.

You will look back at high school and you will have great memories, but you most likely will not miss it and eventually you will get to a point where you wouldn't want to go back to your high school years or rewind the clock for all the money in the world.

Now that I am in the working world...I attend a few of my cousin's football games in high school and wow, it is almost laughable now. I used to feel so grown up in high school and now I go back and see children. Their behavior is that of children, not adults and you will finally see why it is a great memory and nothing more.

Enjoy your youth and make the most of it. Take a nice long pause now and let it all soak in - but when the time comes to move on...be excited and don't waste a moment living in the past.

I just re-read your post. Enjoy your senior year and enjoy being the "big man on campus" but I guarantee that next year at this time you will be so pumped to be living on your own and having freedom at college that the feelings your having now will be non-existent.

Eh, not really. I had lots of fun in high school, but even more in college. I'm a year out of college and miss that, but hey maybe grad school can fix that...

I miss high school because all was much simpler . No worries at all . Just go to school where you would spend the next 9 hours surrounded by friends , then come back , study a bit and then relax with friends again .

I like my life but it will never be as simple and as straightforward as it was.

Agreed. It was nice when the only things I had to pay for was gas, beer and mods to my car..

I do miss seeing my friends everyday, seems like I never get to see them anymore, everyone is so busy now.

    Ah memories...ok, back to work!

After the summer is over once you graduate, comes college and the stress of life. Slowly at first, but more and more as you go on in life. The kind of fun you have when you're about 18 and younger cannot be duplicated. That chapter of your life is over and it is very unique. You don't really realize it when you are young, but you will later. Be good and don't get into trouble and enjoy the next 12 months. If a kid farts in class in high school or a chair calapses on someone overweight, it's funny as heck and everyone laughs. In college - it's not like that at all. Everything changes after that summer....

    I HIGHLY disagree with this.

I graduated college in December (1 semester early,3.5 years: sorry but I like to tell everyone that) and would still laugh if someone farted in class or if a fat kid broke the chair. Most of my friends would do the same.

My only advice which I did not take for myself, is enjoy the hell out of it and really get out there to meet people. Make sure you make friends with the right group of people for yourself; especially if you join a fraternity.

Oh and to answer the main question of this thread, yes I do miss it a little bit. Mainly my senior year, I got into college and did absolutely nothing for about 3/4 of the year. It was great. When I say nothing, I literally mean it. Teachers didn't really give out hw, hung out w/ my friends but as of a year ago I started hanging out again with my real old original friends (like kindergarden/elementary school friends) and I think my high school years would have been 10x better if stuck around them.

That's another thing for all those that are college bound: DON'T LET YOURSELF REGRET ANYTHING!!! If you see a cute girl over in the library sitting by herself, go say Hi.
