No. FA is a smart racer in a good car. He won't risk a DNF for a few extra points, and the Renault in unlikely to melt down like other cars.

In fact, I expect a Renault 1-2 in the next race.

who ever wins...I hope it comes down to the very last race, last lap, last second before the title is awarded.

Lets hope for the best and just maybe MS will do it.

After the USGP, I was thinking a confident "yes." Then I got back to this forum and someone mentioned that Michelin brought conservative tires to the USGP because of last year so FA wasn't with his best setup. I guess the straight speeds helped the Ferraris, too, so a Monza victory will go to Ferrari imo. We'll see how Renault does back in France. If he wins, then I say that it's pretty much over.

    No.

The tyre war is stupid I find, Michelin vs Bridgestone. Michelin were extremely conservative after last years fiasco. At Indy Ferrari had the same tyres and the car was completely the same as in Canada and it was a Ferrari red wash where in Canada Ferrari struggled with grip. Funny how things turn around..

Michelin will be back to their old form in France. We need Bridgestone to be more consistent and lets hope the revised 248 F1 is a big step forward, enough to beat Renault reguraly. BS need to be better than Michelin most of the time..

Not a great showing by Alonso but he will very competitive again unless he has setups problems for the rest of the season. For one of the rare occasions, it was FA who was not quite happy with his car. (understeer) Usually it's Fisico struggling with the balance of the car. This was a one off for him and for Michelin. I must say I miss the old days...What we had in the past was the ability of a driver to make a difference. Now if you don't a car under you it's pretty much game over where as in the past if the driver dug deep you could overcome some of the deficencies. (MS in the 96 Ferrari for example) Everything has to be close to perfection, if you're not happy with something on the car you will be having a hard time. I must say I'm happy that the tyre war will be over next year and we must get rid of electronic aids in F1. Hopefully we will see more action and we'll see who are really the best drivers.
Without driving aids most of the drivers people call "multi-talent" would pop off.

Seems FISI really is #1 at Renault now. Their assuming the championship and Mfgs title are won. Catch them while resting on their laurals.
Or give JPM a reason to take FA out.

I'll never say never, but I think most of the respondents are aware of the situation at the USGP and the tire situation in general. Flavio Briatore said after the British GP that the only way he sees Ferrari winning is if they switch to Michelin. The tire difference is that great. This puts pressure on Ferrari to produce a car with better mechanical grip and balance than the Renault, and anyone following the last 5 years knows that Renault's hallmark is balance and grip, while Ferrari's is power and top speed.

Development is constant and it's possible that BS can pull a rabbit out of their arses and produce a comparable tire to Michelin. That we're halfway through the season and it hasn't happened yet is the reason most doubt things will change.

I'll continue to watch and hope for a miraculous change of fortune, but I don't see it at this point. If Ferrari can make some noise at Magny Cours, I will completely alter my viewpoint.

Absolutely not. Even with Massa gifting him MS the win at Indy, Alonso will beat him fair and square.

yes. no doubt. MS and Ferrari, unlike FA and Renault, have the experience on their side.

I definitely wouldn't rule out MS.

A few dnf for Alonso and MS is in the thick of it. Bear in mind that FA has had a near perfect season so far, no bad luck dnf or accidents. His luck is bound to change. There is still 8 races to go.

Could never figured out F1 point system, odd that MS is only 20 points behind given how FA has dominated.

Tire factor? Didn't ferrari just come in 1-2 at indy?

MS has looked ordinary in the rain as of late. I think thr rainmeister days are over. Kimi and Alonso have been just as good as MS in the rain the past few years. I think unless Alonso has a huge meltdown, which is unlikely, it's over for MS this year.

I also hope so but realistically it's another story.

As far as Magny Cours, Renault is sure to pull out all the stops for that event since it's the 100 anniversary year of Grands Prix, the winning car was a Renault (Agatha) - Magny Cours is in France and Renault is a French manufacturer - all makes sense. Perfect circumstances for Renault to win again.

Unless FA gets injured, no chance in hell.

Indy was expected to be a poor performance for Michelin tires and it was.

FA played it safe. Next race in front of home crowds will be different. The gap will widen again.

    its hard to say.

If Fernando has to play hard for race one of an engine, then race two, he is definately out.... besides the bridgstone advantage at Indy, it was obvious that FA pushed too hard on the first weekend of this evolution of the Renault powerplant.

we've seen Michael pull the proverbial rabbit from the hat with good pit stops to eat away a couple points at a time... it might have been quite a bit closer if it weren't for the Monico fiasco at rascasse.

I def. want to see Micheal beat Alonso.
