Hiring a 328 GTS QV in Hawaii in 1994, had it for two days. It was a mistake to take it into the botanic gardens with a 5 mile and hour speed limit, trying to ride the clutch was a pain, but since it was a hire car it was the first and last time i will ever drive a Ferrari without some sort of concern waiting for something to go wrong.
Now have my308 GTS QV and love it, even with its little hichups every now and then, i figure its like having a prized stallion or a super model as a wife, you take the good with the bad, because the good far outways the bad plus looking at it costs you nothing.
Also purchased a great second hand Gibson guitar that day, so driving down the highway with a new guitar on the passenger seat of a ferrari was a great day.

 

Where do I sign up for this gig? Dating, and sleeping with a talented model from Belgium who owns her own Ferrari?

 

Hay, you live in the Bay Area, and must remember what it was like back then. It was a different world. It was like all we lived for was to party! Fast cars, fast women, and lots of money.

 

Also my earliest glimpse of a Ferrari. I was so upset that it was no longer made. Then I heard about the 308 and as soon as I saw it I was smitten. This is how a car was supposed to be. That was the late 70's I think and I had my license for 3 years. About twenty years later I had a 1982 GTSi sitting in my garage. Sold that one but the bug had bitten me. About 5 months ago got myself a '85 308 GTS QV. Done.

First time that I saw a GT4 was interesting too. It was dark blue. Pretty much the same color as I have now. I must have been around 19 years old then (42 now). The car was parked in the village where my parents lived, and I have walked around that car several times in order to look at it from all possible angles.

Disgusted.

I vividly remember wondering how on earth someone could call that ugly-as-sin monstrosity a Ferrari. What were they thinking in Maranello?

Then at age 35, I was looking at a 400i at a classic car dealer in town, when I saw a silver with red 208 GT4 that was parked in there too. The 400 was soon forgotten. A year later, I went on a serious hunt for the perfect GT4, which I feel I now own

Hard to admit in this forum, but I wasn't obsessed with Ferrari, the marque, when I was kid. I was obsessed with the 308 specifically, though. Not sure if it started with Magnum or with the car mags my grandfather would share with me, but it was always the car I wanted.

My parents have a driveway that's about 50 yards long straight off the street and I remember being about 9-10 and riding my bike down the street, then turning into and down the drive, all the time imagining myself in a 308. Part of me wants to ship the car east just so I can do it for real...

 

Late 70's , I'm in in front of a restaurant in Montreal and Gilles Villeneuve shows up,parks his car in front of the restaurant with Guy Lafleur, Montreal's superstar hockey player.

We first notice the car (how could we not??) then realize it's Villeneuve and Lafleur who get's out of it.
Lafleur has a hard time getting out, he's a big guy.

They a croud gathered up and they took all the time to answer all the questions anybody had for them very relaxed.

I remember him telling us it was a 308, and this is when it hit me.

Dont own one yet but I'm working hard at it LOL

That's the ad that I spent so much time sketching at age 12....it definitely stays with you.

 

I actually just heard that very car in person at Goodwood this year - amazing sound and very loud even at idle. it was not cutting in and out like on the cd.

I fell in love with the 308 GT4 and GTB/S.









I NEVER fell in love with Ferrari.

 

I went to elementary school with the son of a orthopedic surgeon. We were about 14 years old (1985) and he let his son choose between a Countach and a Testarossa for dads new sports car. His son choose the Countach but I remember playing over at their house and looking through magazines and pictures as him and his dad were enjoying the decision. My dad was a line factory worker at GM so I got to have the posters. That was my first glimpse into the "possible" and the beauty of that red paint. Their Countach was delivered in red with gold wheels.

 

I've always been a Countach lover and knew I could never afford one. So I was looking for a Pantera which I tought was the closest thing to it(in group5 wrapping). Searching the ads for a Pantera I came across a GTSI for sale at what was an affordable price and I told my ex-wife lets go have a look at it. We both loved the car but didn't buy this one. But the search started there. I now really love my car. And I just bought a second Ferrari. I would have never tought that someday I would own 2 Ferraris. I'm even thinking about 3 if I could find a GT4 that I like if I sell the Vette someday. I don't know if I fell in love with them but I sure do like them.

BTW my 308GTB is the car I prefer over all the cars I've owned in my life. Now let's see how the Mondial Cab will do in comparison.

More or less + 1 for me, too: no enthusiasm for the post-1990 Ferraris, with the sole exception of the 550/575 (more or less).
And definitively no enthusiasm whatsoever for the brand today, their image, all the "derived products", etc...
