When I'm out in my F car, I always take the longer route home as I find it difficult to put the car away. I was out in it at the weekend and drove a further 30 miles/1 hour on my way home just because I was enjoying myself soooo much (even though I had a deadline)!

I once drove 320 miles to buy a pint of milk! Can anyone beat that? :)

I can't beat the distance but I did go out on a Sunday morning in my 400i to get a cup of coffee, ended up driving 75 miles through the countryside in New York and Connecticut and never did stop to get the coffee!

I find myself running a lot of errands:

Me: "Honey, we need anything from the grocery store?"
Wife: "But you just got back from the store. In fact, it was your third trip of the day to the store."
Me: "I know, but surely there is some critical item that the family needs. I'm just looking out for everyone."
    Wife: "Yeah, right."
    Me: "I think we're out of Q-tips."
    Wife: "Uhg!"
Me: "Be back in 2 hours. Oh, while I'm out be working on a new shopping list. I hear there is a new store in Birmingham."

    Well, you get the idea.

Looks like the birds are more interested in your car than the chips.

I often take the 'long way' any time I take the Ferrari somewhere. If I am in a hurry to get there; I get there quick and take the long way back. I find taking the long way as a wonderful way to let things go and enjoy life for a bit... much like some do with a glass of great scotch or a fine cigar. Its a wonderful feeling to love driving your car, isn't it?

This is the norm for me also, I often pull into my drive way, switch the car off, get out, look at the car as I go to walk away, then spin around and jump back in and I’m off again.

Just a few weeks ago I felt like food from a particular restaurant in another city about 150kms north from home, I got in the 355 and headed out of town, only to get to the other town and find the restaurant was closed! I figured all was not lost and continued north about another 50kms (great driving road up there) then turned around and drove home. I ended up eating at a service station on the way home, wasn't the meal I had in mind but the drive was sensational!! :D

    Yep Derek... guilty.
Sucks for me that my office is under 10km from my home. I find the need to run home and then "oh yeah, have to go do ....." just to get it out more.

The other day I told my wife that I was running to the store. When she heard the F fire up I saw her peek out into the garage and give me a quick eye roll... "You can't go grocery shopping in THAT!". "Watch me" was about all I said.

I sure wish they would move the store further away from me. ;)

HEH! I thought I was the only one!

While I don't own a Ferrari (Just bought me a Jetta) I've been making excuses to go for drive since I got it. I had so much fun with it that when I went to drive the 1500k back to my home in Yellowknife I drove that 1500k in about 18 hours...INCLUDING stops for gas and fuel.

I suspect when I buy a Ferrari in a few years that it'll only get worse....

Years ago when I used to live in Suffolk I would be coming home from Bklyn. instead of the Pky. or the Expressway I would cut north and take Northern Blvd. all the way home. Great ride on the old kawasaki that I had at the time at 2:00AM.

being in london atm with the 355, i NEVER take the long way! london is probably the most annoying city to drive in...

on one occation whilst i was back in lisboa, I wanted to treat my wife to dinner, then the idea to eat on our boat in algarve came to mind..

one thing lead to another and we drove the diablo 290kms south for dinner, then went back the next day just for the drive..

What kind of bird is that eyeing your chips and gravy? Not like our normal back yard birds here in the states. He looks like he's got some zebra in him.

I ALWAYS take the long way home...

    Always, always, always...

Kind of makes the wife mad, but... it is what it is....

Besides, the long way home for me includes going through the drop off area at the Kuwait City International Airport... the approving looks are worth the extra time and miles...

    It's great....
