I just shot a letter off to OCC to inquire about building a California Goldrush theme bike. I'v thought about this for a couple of years now. Living in the CA gold country, I thought this would be a cool item. My thinking is that such a commission would run around $30-$40K.

Any thoughts or experience with them?

I would say that if you have a deep enough wallet, they'll do anything for you.

That would be awesome if they accepted the job, and did the bike on the show as well. Im thinking they would charge quite a bit more for that, maybe close to 100,000...as I know that was the value of one of the bikes they built, but who knows.

Their theme bikes go for between $100,000 and $150,000. Good luck.

I had an '85 Interstate and a 25th aniv. Awesome bike, but too damn quiet for driving in an area that has a lot of deer that the bike will not scare off.

If the bike is shown on the TV show as a "bike build", I think the current going price is around $750k. If its not shown on TV, probably closer to $100k.

One of my best friends works for Discovery so I can inquire with her, but I dunno how likely it would be to happen. I mean I've been trying for a looooong time to get one of my cars on TLC's OverHaulin' (TLC's owned by Discovery in case ya'll didn't know :)) to no avail. :( OCC realllllly need some fresh ideas BIG time (IMHO) so no doubt a Cali Gold Rush bike would be more than fresh enough. :)

OCC's "entry" bike, the T-Rex, goes for $30-35K new. Nice bikes but just not worth the money when you compare them to some of the other builders out there.

If I pay that kind of money for transportation, it must have four wheels, two seats and an engine that sits directly behind my fat noggin!' :)

What do you have in mind exactly for the "Gold Rush" theme? Gold nuggets or what? As for cost - if you are creative you might easily find a sponsor. Sometime you just need to ask.

Those guys are media ****s, and frankly, i don't think their bikes are that tasty, either. Chica, on the West Coast, builds far more interesting old school bikes; on the East Coast, Dave Finn, local to me, is a fabulous builder who is well-known in chopper circles, and is the real deal- a very down to earth guy with real talent. I watch them do amazing things from the ground up- turning V-Rods into cafe racers is just one of his many tricks. Dave Finn is the man.

    I wouldn't pay $20k for their bikes......

I've seen some custom bikes with floating wheels that are very cool looking.

OC bikes look plain with special details.

I agree. Looking at them from a pro graphic artist point of view, I’m not all that impressed w/ the designs. I did like the I-Robot bike. Some of the others, like the Fire & Apache come together a bit crudely but look good in the end. That dude (Justin I think) that paints for them IS A MASTER! Just a kid but has talent & skill to kill for!!! His work is so amazing it makes me cry every time. I’ve seen Bike “Build Off” shows & know there are a lot of other incredibly talented craftsmen out there. Bring um on!

Their bikes show up periodically in the dupont registry - I have seen them for 75k$. Now this is of course NOT the original commision price...this is AFTER 10 miles of depreciation :).

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen the new bikes from Gasoline Alley since Indian Larry died? I haven't yet and wanted to see how they were carrying on.
