Agree 100%. In general, I'm not a fan of most things "tire" in F1--in fact, I find tires to be a bit boring. I prefer they sit there, all round, black and tacky (glad I didn't say 'sticky') and do their jobs going round and round. I hate cocked up derivative rules that require using X number of compounds, mandatory changes, fuel loads, whatever. That isn't racing, and when the sport has to resort to off-track manipulation to shake up the non-action on track, it's time to look in some different directions.
