Why do people do that? I was on a long flight that was barely populated once and I was talking to the (male) flight attendant. He told me people quite frequently crapped on the walls. How the hell do you crap on the wall of an airplane toilet? Unless you actually crap in your hand and spread it around which is so entirely disgusting I dont even want to think about it. What is it that gets people off about crapping everywhere in a toilet?

I used to be a janitor at a local aerospace company when I was in high school and people would pick their nose and smear snot all over the inside of the stall. They would load up the toilet with paper so it would never flush and then poop on top of the pile. They would then flush multiple times until it overflowed.

I put a sign up saying I was watching who came and went from the toilet and I would be going in there after each person to check and if I found out who was making the mess by doing any of the above, I would immediately report it right to the prez of the company. It instantly stopped but after I left that job, I heard it started all over again. WTF!

Being a mechanic..I wash my hands..oh about 25 times a day. Wash before using the washroom, after using the washroom, before a road test, after a road test (sometimes..depending on the condition of the interior of the car). During jobs, before lunch, after lunch, before going home. Beofre getting into a car for interior work, during interior work (due to greasy parts under the dash), before entering any interior. Before handeling electronic parts, after wiping down and putting tools away..etc, etc, etc.

I'll bet my hands are under soap and water more then any doctors hands are.

I feel like Adrian Monk when I'm in a public restroom... The germs, the uncleanliness, the friggin' piss EVERYwhere...!

I can't recall a time where I ever flushed a public toilet with my hands... If it's a bowl, I'll step on the flusher - if it's a urinal, there's no way I'm touching it... I'm even skeeved about washing my hands in there - 'cause in some places, you have to touch the knob to turn on the water...! Bathrooms are disgusting places... I have anxiety just thinking about it...

Want to be germ-free...? Start at home...? Cover up your toothbrush and keep it at least six to eight feet away from your toilet... Put the seat and seat lids down before you flush... ALWAYS wash your hands...! Ew, this whole thread is making me feel dirty, I have to go...

    I'm OCD about washing too.

Just watch some of the people around you in public, and if you have half a brain, you'll be OCD in no time flat too.

Many people don't wash after wiping the ole hairy donut. These are the same people that will touch the door handle that you need to open in order to exit the restroom. These are the people that will finger the money they hand to the cashier at the Choke n Puke, who will, in turn, give change to you from the money they just got from the escapee from CDC's containment area.

6 degrees of Kevin Bacon doesn't have **** on Keven Bacon, and I mean that.

At McDee's, there's exactly one degree of seperation between the fries you are eating and Captain Sh!tpants' anus. He might as well be pinching out french fries, for Chrisakes.

Wash, wash, wash, and for gosh sakes, don't eat with your fingers.

Wow, you guys are germ-freaks. Ever heard of an immune system? Haha, it is what prevents you from getting sick from small stuff like this. There is no use fighting it, you are just winning in your head, but not in reality. You are still encountering dirty situations everywhere and there is really nothing you can do about it.

Besides, its just skin. Hell, it's probably more clean than your arms or whatever is exposed to the elements :)

I try to avoid public toilets (I'm so germ phobic I'm even scared to breathe in them), but when I have to, I'll wash my hands before and after, with water as hot as I can stand, and plenty of soap. Then use the paper towel to open the door on my way out. I also do that occasional hand wash for no reason during the day.

Yeah, probably true considering some of the horrors I've seen in people's houses! I rarely (if ever) eat or drink at other people's houses unless I know they're pedantic about cleanliness and hygiene. One thing I've never understood is how some people who handwash dishes and cutlery don't thoroughly rinse them with hot water afterwards. They just dry the soapy dish. Come on!!! Would you do that to your car???

The only way to have almost germ free cutlery is to use ceramic cutlery. Metal surfaces , even plastic surfaces have too much friction to wash away germs completely. There will always be germs lodged in the microscopic bumps and grooves in the metal.

Im not a doctor or anything, but Ive always subscribed to the fact that when you remove all the germs in your environment (such as OCD washing), your only giving the potential "bad germs" more oppurtunity as you are eliminating the competition (which may not be as harmful).

Now.. if only doctors would start un-prescribing antibiotics..

Aren't some plates ceramic? How do they stack up (pardon the pun)? How about metal implements used in surgery? I don't have the answers as I do not have a scientific background, so I'll defer to the experts.

I too have heard that trying to remove germs can actually deplete the immune system, but if you're neurotic about it, what are ya gonna do? :)

  17. I would guess that better than 50% don't wash their hands. I wouldn't mind if Donald Trump got his way, and we stopped shaking hands. I just cringe when someone sneezes or coughes and then stick's their hands out to shake. How do you tell someone no without making them mad?

For those of you who are of the ilk that germs are everywhere and it dosen't matter if you wash your hands or not what would your response be if your doctor did not wash his hands before examining you or better yet before he cut into you during surgery?

You guys do realize that your body does have an immune system? Some of you guys are gonna end up like Howard Huges.

Grems are everywere. When you take a shower, you come out just as gremie as you went in..although you my smell a bit better. Watch the movie war of the worlds..its a good display how Humans have co-exsisted with germs on our plant since the begining of time. We have built up an Immunity to them by being exposed to them. The aliens did not have this..so they died.

Of course I'm not saying to go a stick you head in a toilet and nOT wash your hands after you pee, but its is not going to kill you or anyone else. It never has, unless your licking floors and toilet seats. Normal higene is very important and we all practice it (hopefully). But going to extremes is only gonna put you in the nut house.

I hate it when I'm sitting in a stall at work, and I hear someone in the next stall finish up, and walk out the door without washing.

Fortunately, the building we moved into a year ago has auto-flush urinals, auto-on faucets, and doors that open out. They're also starting to put Purell dispensers up, first at the shared "cyber-cafe" computers, I heard that they are going to put them by the elevator buttons as well. They also passed around Purell, Clorox wipes and anti-viral Kleenex last week as a "beat the flu bug" promo.

But there's still those people... I'll have to start tracking them by their shoes.
