    .
for those who track often with their F-cars , does the car take to
    track-work well ?

is there an abnormal amount of wear ?

    cheers.

The 308 here has been modded to better handle track though is also a street daily beater driver (no engine/tranny mods, though use uprated radiator, race seats, race belts, better suspension, r-compound tires, etc). Car does very well all in all. Of course there will be added wear versus street driving due to being harder on the (modded) brakes and rotors, harder/faster shifting, and staying in the upper rpm range. Tires do not last that long, same with brake pads and rotors. It is simply par for the course. The same can be said with virtually any street car that is tracked often... including Ferraris imho.

And with that said, today is day 2 at Lime Rock Park racetrack. Yesterday was sunny and hot until 2pm where torrential rain came down. Had 2 sessions in the dry, 2 sessions in the rain/damp. It is said that today will be rain most of the day and this makes for great learning of careful car balance. Yes, Ferrari cars can be driven (and tracked) in the rain :)

Here is what i would say. The track basically exposes weak parts in your car due to the excessive stress compared to the street. Basically if you have something that is wearing out it will wear out much faster on the track. Beyond that the harder you push the car the more wear you will have on it.

My car held up great for the first 3 years with only consumables going away and needing to be replaced. Last year however I lost a transmission and now this year a wheel bearing.

Biggest thing I can tell you is my cost for maintainence basically doubled from using the car as just a street car.

Enzo Ferrari meant for his cars to be driven. With the amount of horsepower and technology he put in them, and that Ferrari still does, is kind of a hint that they were made for more than puttering down Main Street. In my opinion Ferraris are meant to be driven very hard, and a track is the best way to do it. It costs more, but it sure is funner blasting through corners and hitting mind blowing speed. I saw a video a couple years back where some people who had never tracked there Ferrari took it to the Nordschliefe to get a taste of it. One particular man, driving his Enzo, got it up to 195mph on the straight, then backed off. He later said, "Well on the street its dangerous going faster than that, and Ive never done it" I laughed like crazy. That phrase basically says it all though. The track lets you experience your Ferrari like the street never can. If it cost more money, so be it.

Brake wear/ rotors warping thats it. Dont do it on hot days. As with any piston engine over revving on missed down shifts not too cool.
Porsche more up to the task.

Mines a bit special, she was built especially for the track although she enjoys devouring tires & she gets 4 mpg

My road 512TR devoured tires & brake pads

They need a little work to really get them track worthy
