I was playing with my dog, "roughhousing", wrestling, etc, and while I was holding her on her back she bit me on the inside of my left wrist. Not hard - no bleeding, just the way puppies do. But for some reason it hurt like hell this time! She got her gnashers around my whole wrist and bit down.

So now when I bend my hand back theres a little hard bump that protrudes from my wrist. And sometimes when I move it without thinking (like to type, grab a drink, open a door) I get this short flash of slight pain. The bump isnt painful and when I poke it, it seems very hard - almost like a bone or something. I also feel it when I rotate my hand forward - just a slight tinge of pain but it seems to have gotten a bit worse the last few hours.

WTH? Could she have broken/dislocated a bone? A guy I know was telling me about a "ganglionic cyst" and it sounds similar in symptoms. Can that happen from a sudden sharp impact like a bite?

Long story short: was bitten on the wrist by a not-quite-sane gf during an attempt to maintain my lengthy life expectancy... experienced similar results to what you have, including a hard bump on the wrist that didn't hurt when poked, but hurt like hell on occasion during normal bending and moving. I had some x-rays and cat scans done and found out a ganglion cyst had grown where I was bitten. A simple outpatient surgery and a few months of physical therapy seemed to do the trick. Best of luck..

It sounds like a ganglion cyst. A sharp impact can cause one to form.

The traditional treatment is to smack the cyst with a big heavy book like a dictionary or bible. Hit it as hard as you can. Lesser force will often break the cyst but you don't want to have to hit it a second time. :D

This summer while camping, one of the guys had a cyst on his wrist. We even had a doctor along. He got out a heavy book from the truck and smacked the wrist. Cyst gone. The rest of us had a good laugh.

Are you serious? I mean hell I'll do that in a second but if you're just messing with me I dont wanna break my wrist :)

I cant believe your doc friend recommended the book technique LOL! You'd think a doctor would at least have some sort of surgical hammer or something.

And if what you say is real method to get rid of it, do you hit it flat on like you're squishing a fly or with the corner of the book? And do you need to bend the wrist to expose it and make it stick out before you whack it?

I knew the bible would come in useful some day :)

    Second the ganglion cyst.

There have been reports of broken bones with the whack-it-hard-with-the-Bible-technique.

BTW, it has to be a Bible, a dictionary would be looked upon poorly come Judgment Day.

At the risk of p*ssing off everybody here: leave it alone. It is harmless. Unless it causes a lot of pain. Sometimes they go away on their own.

Not medical advice, entertainment only blah blah blah.

You know now that you mention it I think this has happened before. I remember a couple of years ago something similar happened and I thought I had somehow broken one of the bones in my wrist. I did nothing and a couple of months later it was gone. I wonder if the dog biting it caused it to somehow flare up again. I will wait a month or two and see if it goes away, and if not, it hammer (bible) time.

Thanks URO. Please PM me the name of your malpractice carrier so that I know who to contact for a lawsuit if your medical advisory doesnt work out :)

Crazy gf thread? I'd have it up to 50 pages just by myself :) I'm staying far away from that one...

When I had the cyst though, I looked up all kinds of stuff and yes, in some part they are known as 'bible bumps' since people really do fix them by smashing them with a large book. My doctor recommended against leaving it in or smashing it with books though, as in my case it had wrapped itself around some kind of nerve or other important bits running through my wrist. Potential for further complications existed, so I went ahead and had it removed. I asked the doc to show it to me once it was out and she held up a vial containing a rather large blob of gooey innards.. I was expecting a small pea-sized thing but it was more like 3-4 marbles held together by fleshy gore. Glad I had it removed, as the scar serves as a nice reminder anytime I start thinking "oh she's not THAT sketchy" about some girl I just met...

thanks for the compliment btw, car is titanium although it looks a bit blue in that pic...

Actually, it seems to be acute tubersyphillicosis

Cure: get one of Lamour's books and whack off.

I think what Lamour has is boobersilicosis, not tybersyphilis or whatever that is :)

LMAO. I have no idea why they struck me so funny, something to do with the seriousness of the thread, and then out of no where, as usual. Nice.
