We are looking for documentation on how to set-up the ignition properly on a 365 GT4 2+2.
We have renewed all the distribution chain elements on 365 GT4 2+2 chassis 17425 (chain, sprockets, tensioner etc..). While making adjustments, we saw that the ignition settings had been altered significantly, perhaps to compensate the slack in the old distribution chain which was at the end of its life (some sprockets had teeth broken and the tensioner was out of adjustment travel).
So far we have aligned the ignition and the flywheel, but we need now to align the ignition to the cams and this is where we are having issues.

It does not seem that the 365 GT4 2+2 has a workshop manual and we are not sure if the workshop manual for the 365GTC4 applies for the ignition of the 365 GT4 2+2.

Any help/hint/documentation would be very welcome.
    Thanks in advance.

You obviously know a bit about mechanics, here's some keywords to get you an overview
and if you could specify your questions a bit it's easier to help further. There are very resourceful F-Chatters here to help :)

Basically the ignition on Ferrari's with contactbreakers is pretty straight forward, and identical for each cylinderbank. So it's ignitionwise two straight six engines. (or two fours for the V8's)

The distributors on the 365/400 V12 are secured to the angular drive and the angulardrive secured to the end of camshaft.
There is splines in the angulardrive that connects to cam, and a drivepiece towards the distributor.

When setting up the ignition, make sure flywheel is at static timing mark for relevant cylinder at compression stroke (both valves closed) cyl 1 for r/h bank or cyl 7 for l/h bank.
Then place distributor rotor towards cyl 1 (or 7) contact point in distributor cap and try to put it on to angular drive -if you are lucky it will fit on drivepiece with rotor still pointing to contactpoint.
Then turn distributorhousing until breaker just opens and fasten the three nuts. -Done!!
Again -if lucky, there is enough space in the adjustment slots to allow this to happen.
If not, in both cases -you will have to move the spline on the angular drive and try again. Not complicated but accessability is not great when engine in car, and may be a bit mess/oilspill for added fun :)

Manual for GTC4 should be OK for reference.

Have aquired quite a few grey hairs trying to sort those Marelli's and they are god fun -and having them sorted correctly really means a lot for proper engine performance.
I made some notes that may or may not be useful for you. See attached doc.
