Yikes: http://blog.caranddriver.com/dodge-pulling-out-of-nascar-after-2012-season/ NASCAR's loss is perhaps sport car racing's gain.
Chrysler-Dodge won't say it but I will... There is nothing in it for any of the NASCAR manufactureres to be sinking tens of millions of dollars into a racing program that is little more than a branding exercise (Toyota's term), has no relevance to their road going cars and no RO their I. Of course the Vipers have been welcomed back to ALMS GT with open arms. At least in sports car racing, what is on the track has a direct coorelation to their road going counterparts. BHW
+ 2 I Agree. Most racing today isn't serving the manufacturers needs. It also isn't serving the customers either. When it is just "badging" it serves only as advertising and thats it. When was the last time you bought a pushrod v-8 ford, chevy, or mopar??? Time to move on to things that directly relate to the consumer and his/her needs.
+3 and NASCAR ass-umed that fuel injection would bring them closer to the mentality of REAL race fans, they are still idiots!! Did anyone else see that drunk/hick behind the post-race coverage stage, I was disgusted!!
dodge leaving nascar...this is not good! nascar has really been a rick hendrick spec series but i still watch. i am sorry that dodge is history. pcb
ALMS and rallying, two forms of the sport that have relevance to road going departments and of course, forms of racing that younger demographic fans identify with. Good for Dodge all round. BHW
