    Hello all,

I did a search and couldn't find anything definitive. My newly purchased 99 355 gts is getting checked over by my local specialist before I take delivery, and it is all stock. Went to see it today for the first time and was asking his opinion on exhausts. His preference was Tubi.

He said he's installed capristo's in the past, but they would cause sporadic check engine lights due to temperature fluctuations. I didn't get the details because I had my 2 year old with me and she was in need of some attention at the same time.

Or was he referring to their valve kit?

    Thanks in advance!

I would assume the check engine light was caused by forcing the exhaust bypass valve open, which is common to have the check engine light on during idle or cruising. That is not particularly on the brand of cat back exhaust.

Most ears prefer the Capristo, but Tubi is still great.

I run four different exhausts, never had any of the exhaust cause a check engine light. However, messing with the bypass can cause a check engine light.

Ask for a check engine lights in general, You're going to see a few from time to time. I'd recommend buying a scanner, Note the code, clear it, and don't worry about it unless it comes back, then address it.
We've all gotten so used to modern cars, I've had several other cars from this time period When OBD2 came out, and is normal just to have a random code every once in awhile.
It helps to think of it as a whiny supermodel lol

Had mine over 15 years and no check engine lights unless something else was wrong.
You need cats and o2 extenders.

I’ve cap, exhaust and bypass value. No name sports cats. (With thermocouples disconnected) Headers are oem.

    no check lights.

Just a habit of playing bypass valve on the throttle :)
