    Hello,

My 599 GTO driver seat in (black) Alcantara is slightly damaged, and i am planning to change the seat cover. Does anyone knows if Alcantara is fading, and if there is a risk color will not match with the rest of the seat ?

    Thanks in advance.

I have black Alcantara-insert seats in my daily driver Audi. At least in black, it seems to be very color stable after ~18,000 miles.

Unless you park your 599 outside a lot more than the typical Ferrari driver, I'm guessing it won't have faded much if at all, but what you might do is replace both seat covers to be safe.

Obviously alcantara are a protected species, so kinda dumb to suggest Ferrari would go with contraband alcantara.

Anything and everything fades when exposed to UV. Chances are your car seat has not been exposed long enough to have a noticeable difference. Can you take the new sample and place it up against what you are not changing?

I have a custom dash and interior covered in black alcantara, supplied by Sparco, from 2003. It was inspired by the back interior panel of the early 360 Modena, which had it at the time, I recall. My car was garaged, with no sign of fading in over 11 years and 4,000 miles. It does seem to do better than other materials. Good advise to order a sample and compare. Also, there are two kinds of alcantara. One-directional and two-directional. The one-directional being the harder to work with as it only stretched in one direction.
