Kinda two different things you're talking here: Embroidery on the racing suit (e.g. like your name or blood type) is easy enough. We have a great shop in town where I take my racing suit and other things to get embroidered. Patches, although technically embroidery, are a whole different ball game. If you have e.g. a racing team patch with different colors etc that is done by companies specializing on this kind of thing. They're not cheap and the price goes by number of colors and stitches (complexity of the design). Setting up the machine is the expensive part (think $ 400) and cost per patch is then on average about $ 10 to 20. That's based on a patch I had made a few years ago. I have good contacts for either and be happy to help you.
If you want to do just embroidery you'd have to send me your suit or whatever needs the stitching along with directions on what goes where. I'd take it to the shop in town. There I'll have a lenghty discussion with them about the how and what. They do good work but are very peculiar: Their first reaction is always "NO, can't be done" and after some more discussion we always find common ground. If you want to have a patch done, give me a little time. Have to dig out that contact first, was a while ago.
Monogram Makers in Houston does the dealer stuff, here. That would be a head start on set up costs for the Ferrari stuff, as posted all the custom setups depend on size, quantity, etc. As the other thread on suits noted, it does undermine fireproofing if not nomex thread.......
