With the top down, the lid is not 'clicking' the last microswitch, therefore no triple beep and the roof icon on the dash stays lit. Doesn't affect operation of the top, but the light is annoying. The weird thing is with the top up, system cycles perfectly, so there might be TWO different switches. Or if the same, it just needs minimal adjustment. I know most of the switches are on the driver's side, under the side-pod cover (and maybe under the sliding one as well), but I don't know if just cycling the roof and stopping it at certain position can give me access to them. I bet all it's needed is to bend the little metal tab up a bit so switch clicks a bit sooner, but need to know the location of the switch in question. I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

If you actuate the top half way for servicing, and then stop, the top will only stay in that position for a few minutes, then you will hear a "beep beep beep" and the hydraulic pressure will drop and the top pieces will drop somewhat randomly! i.e. the clamshell might be above or below the top, and can damage the paint or worse.

So always have three people, one on each side, then one doing the maintenance, or better yet you can buy the shop top maintenance tool, its a small electric box that costs $1-2K. I dont remember its correct name/price and cant seem to locate where I had spotted it for sale.

Now for the workshop manual the best price I have found is $191 and I have not bought or verified it is "complete". The description states: "Ferrari F430 spare parts catalog, workshop service manual, maintenance, diagnostic, wiring diagram Ferrari F430."

    I hope this helps,

Thanks a bunch for your help Trent, especially the quoted part above. My new question is if you have a few seconds after the 'beeps' to operate the top, or are you screwed at that point? If I can't read printed instructions provided by somebody, will definitely order the shop manual before doing anything. Will verify your source to make sure it's a complete set indeed, plus that it's one file (or disc), has an index, and it's searchable; price is reasonable. Thanks again.

JC, make sure you have the latest possible version of the WSM. If the WSM is from 2006, you may be disappointed finding my parts not being completed. I had this experience a couple of years ago when I bought the Coupe WSM and many important sections where marked "to be completed".

That was great advice; many thanks. Never heard of such a thing though. How the heck did techs fix problems not in the manual??? Anyway, nothing really changed, other than CCB becoming standard in '08, and maybe a different part number here and there that it's probably superseded anyway, right? So an '08 or '09? Just have to make sure they're not more expensive because of that < ha ha>. Take care.
