The Rolls is one large car. My ex had one for years with her 2nd marriage. When I parked my S350 next to it, the Rolls was feet longer.

If it's a late car (1995 on) it'll be a turbocharged (spur) although it looks like it could be a short wheelbase variant, which may mean it's an earlier (non-turbo'd) spirit. Most of the later spurs were long wheel base. Looks a nice example from the pics.

It is a 1995 Silver Dawn, around 24000 miles. Non-Turbo, big pushrod V8.

It is being offered to me from a local estate after the original owner passed over.

Everyone is exactly right - big (BIG) is not even big enough to work as a descriptive word.

Yeah, very cool! Classic colors, silky-smooth and a noble presence. They only made 237 Dawns. Would make a good cigar car, but that's just me. :)

I used to be shop forman at a Rolls dealer.

I'm still hiding under my desk.

Its a rolling collection of Victorian technology designed by engineers who were completly unaware the rest of the world had progressed past that stage and it was assembled by a collection of workers who hated management and hated the wealthy class even more, to a degree that the American auto industry cannot even imagine.

In one of the electrical classes I attended at Rolls school I was rolling on the floor laughing. Rube Goldberg had nothing on them.

But it does look like a nice example.

Admitedly some "tongue in cheek" but a fairly accurate representation.

You ain't seen nuthin' till you've done a brake job on a Rolls that's had some maintenance deferred.

And the Phantoms now are even bigger. They're starting to dwarf SUVs.

Danmmit, Brian - don't hold back. Just come out and say it the way you really feel it.

Yes, I am pretty much letting go of the ZR-1 for this thing, provided that it meets my next test -

Which is - can I close the garage door with it parked nose to the wall.

I have a 2000 Silver Seraph, and I enjoy driving it as much as my 360. My Seraph has a big BMW V12 in it so it's a very nice combination of British hand-built luxury and German pwertrain and other mnechanicals.

Rolls-Royce, should have been powered by steam, to keep the whole experience proper, in a British sort of way.

I have limited experience from Silver-Ghosts to Silver Shadows, in the family.

I liked them. Today, I would be looking over my shoulder, as this display of wealth, would risk a shot or two, over the bow, by a disgruntled citizen, particularly here in Michigan.

I won't get into the rest of it, as it's too depressing, to even contemplate.

    Ciao...Paolo

Technically, RR should have ended up as an over the top "tuning" brand for Mercedes.
Just imagine a car like a recent MB600 with the interior of a Seraph or so. That would be the killing car.
No more porcelain relays (...) etc. Just the better part of old world luxury without such punny details.

We carry here in Dallas, Paolo...but then you have a point: Don't think it would be a very good idea to take it down through Neuvo Laredo on your way to Monterey.

BTW, though - Wonder how much Sanborns would want for a 2 week Mexican vacation insurance package?
